(Answered) Clarification on Extra Time for repairs
« on: 03 February 2011, 16:23:36 »
Pg 182 left side of Strat Ops has this written in regards to taking extra time for repairs:

Extra Time: To increase the potential for a successful repair/
replacement, a player may spend extra time on a repair or replacement
job.
If twice the required repair time is spent on a job, the Technician
Skill Check receives a –1 modifi er to the target number. The repair
time may be doubled multiple times (to a maximum of 4 times
the standard time
), but a result of 2 on the dice roll is always a
failure, regardless of how low the target number is reduced by
taking extra time.
Extra time cannot be combined with rush jobs (below).

What I need to know is does this mean:

1. Each time you take extra time it is doubled, i.e. a 20 min repair would go 20, 40, 80, 160 to get a -3 modifier.

2.Each time you take extra time you add the amount of repair time to the total, i.e. a 20 min repair would go 20, 40, 60, 80 to get a -3 modifier.

Please enlighten me.

You can do Extra Time on a repair up to four times the standard time, so a 20 minute repair can be doubled twice to 80 minutes for a maximum of -2. -3 is not an option. At 40 minutes, you receive a -1.

The solution is just ignore Paul.
