RSD may be mounted in accordance with the unit's applicable rules for installing Weapons, ammunition and equipment. Any unit with cargo space may devote additional tonnage to remote sensors as "Ammo" at a rate of 30 sensors per half-ton.

Presumably since you're using the "Applicable rules" that means you treat them as standard weapons and ammo, meaning they're two separate entities (Like a Gauss rifle and its ammo).

The second half of that statement just adds an extra option for designs with cargo space, allowing them to carry extra "ammo" for its remote sensor dispenser, beyond what is normally carried on the design (sort of like Warships and ammo).

Remote sensors are designated as ammunition for any unit equipped with a Remote Sensor Dispenser, but are also considered part of the dispenser itself, and count as part of its total weight. Additional bins for dispenser "ammo" may not be assigned to a unit (each dispenser and its sensors are considered a self-contained item).

So...TacOps is now saying that you don't use the applicable rules, you use these specialized "all in one" rules (So you would just add a Remote sensor Dispenser and not worry about ammo). Can you still add additional remotes as half-ton lots in cargo space? If you can, can you use those Remotes, or are they considered to just sit there?

You can add additional sensors, at .5 tons per 30 sensors and one critical slot. These are in "cargo" and have to be loaded into the Remote Sensor Deployer to be used.
