(Answered) Abstract Aerospace System (Radar Map)
« on: 06 July 2012, 00:31:00 »
The rules in Strategic Operations for using the abstract aerospace system state that you use the rules on pages 242  - 247 of TW for the attack line air-to-ground and ground-to-air attacks, but they don't seem to mention an important partsof those types of attacks, and I require a bit of clarification on a second point:

The first is altitude. At what altitude level does an aerospace unit enter into it's flight line on the ground mapsheet at? This is important for determining range for the attacks of ground units against the flier (adding +2 hexes for each altitude level)?

Second, the rules on p. 107 of TW state that depending on whether the flier was using the Low Altitude map, or the Aerospace Units on the Ground Mapsheet, the range for a ground unit attacking the flier is from either hex 0909 on the mapsheet (for the former), or "range is based on the target's ending hex" for the latter.

Assuming the latter is used with the abstract aerospace system, does "based on the target's ending hex" mean the last hex on the mapsheet that the flier is at on the battletech mapsheet before exiting the map back to the abstract radar map?

Thank you.

For the first, the attacking player needs to declare their altitude before they start their attack run.

For the second, yes, the last hex they were on before going back to the abstract radar map.
