Pretty sure they have? At the least, I don't think anything's been published killing them off.

I don't think they'll get wiped out anytime soon. Aside from occasionally pissing off a Clan WarShip captain, they tend to fly under the radar, in the grand scheme of things they're just not worth it to kill.

Aside from the Green Ghosts(and nobody knows what set that group off), any hostilities against IE tend to be directed against individual digs and projects, not against the organization as a whole.

Yeah. Not may groups have any real beef against IE as an organization (though individual members and, as Weirdo said, certain expeditions can cause friction on a case-by-case basis). Otherwise, I honestly haven't really seen much of them past the post-Jihad wrap-up reports (see ISP3). They've survived by a mix of mostly just being an impartial archaeological group that usually plays by the book, and being generally irrelevant to the plot ever since the last Jihad plot threads were either wrapped up or put into cold storage.

The only real way I can see the organization as a whole becoming relevant (and potentially under threat) again is if either
A: some IE explorer has the great idea to go off the beaten path on a totally-not-ill-advisable trip to check out what the Homeworlds are up to,
B: a WoB Shadow Divison or Hidden World pops back up, or
C: one of the big factions needs a big shake-up, so IE conveniently finds some Earth-shaking lost historical records that throws the legitimacy of one of the reigning dynasties or blood houses into doubt.

The best look at them is ISP3, which covers their activities in the Republic Era. It also covers the Golden Age of the Goliath Scorpions.

Except for WoB, just remembering what happened to the group that explored Helios is remarkable that there is a certain animosity there because killing the group would be understandable but killing the tiny population of Helios simply for having likely witnessed the matter...

While the Blakists probably had as much love for IE as they did any other seekers of knowledge(little to none), they nonetheless seems to have never taken any actions against the organization as a whole. They went after specific teams that found stuff the WoB wanted to stay buried, but that's it as far as I know. The team on Helios wasn't attacked because of who they were, it was attacked because of what they'd found.

Of course, this analysis may change if we're ever given more information about the Green Ghosts. :)

I think IE did survive at least up to until 3145.

It's in the Niops Association background, when it's said that Niops will only allow Interstellar Expedition vessels and representatives of the Terran Republic to visit their planet. Considering their history of being raided and having their technological utopia razed to the ground I don't blame them. But it does imply that Interstellar Expeditions is their only lifeline to the rest of the galaxy, and it's intact all the way to the end of the Dark Ages. It wouldn't be unreasonable to believe it would stay intact during the ilClan era.

To expand on this, FM:3145 also said that Interstellar Expeditions had partnered with the Niops Association on mining asteroids in the Niops system for germanium, which was a major income source for both.  It wouldn't surprise me if they've partnered with similar small independent worlds in the other quadrants of operations too.

I thought the Niops system was clapped out for resources, weren't they?

Evidently not.  Field Manual 3085, page 136, describes Niops' as follows:

Quote
The mineral resources of the three systems remain vast, despite the plundering by Blakists during the Jihad. On Niops V, guerillas managed to disrupt operations enough that while the mines are a shambles, the resources were not exhausted.

BTW, one of the Interstellar Expeditions / Niops connection blurbs, from FM3145, pg 190:

Quote
Any plans for reconstruction of the Project Workshop were put on hold after the destruction of the Jihad, and have never been restarted. The Niops Association Militia must rely on imports from the Marian Hegemony, former Free Worlds League states, and the Lyran Commonwealth. The largest industry in the Niops system is the Interstellar Expeditions subsidiary, Niops Mining. With forty-eight percent of the profits going directly to the Niops government, this income is enough to maintain the Niops Militia.

I may have been mistaken describing them as asteroid-based.

I can work with this!

Also, I think the point still stands. I.E. lives!
