Reaper CAV Miniatures.
« on: 22 March 2013, 06:59:53 »
I've been thinking about using CAV mech's, but seem unable to get any info about their size other than "They're fine, or They're Too big", if anyone has experience with CAV mechs, i would be delighted to know. The mechs that i'm thinking of using are: 24501: Halberd, 24520: Specter and 24518: Concussion. I don't mind if they are a bit oversized, but if they're far too big i'll have to look for alternatives. Thanks

This one kind of devolved into a thread about hybrids and bashing. But you might want to check this one out.

some are too big but others are just fine and using them for kit bashing is cool.

Would you consider taking a picture of one of each type, next to a couple of the more common minis (Unseen Marauder, or Unseen Warhammer, or Atlas)? Maybe as a group of 6-8. That way people can see the scale for themselves.

CAV has some top notch sculpting going for it. i really like the Dictators, kind of a Warhammer/Mad Dog crossbetween. i think they are N scale, meaning those Mechs wouldnt be very big in real life if compared to an Atlas

That was very helpful. I assumed they were significantly larger, but they don't scale too terribly big next to an assault mech. Might need to pick up a couple. :)

I don't consider the scale between any of the Ral Partha/IWM consistent for that matter

Hey 007, now do the old/new/newest sculpts of the Blood Asp lol

Thanks for posting those pictures though.  I think CAV scales in just fine for the most part but the pics show that so much better than just taking someone's word for it.

Snake eyes :(

You called out the one mech I stay away from because the sculpt keeps changing, I've only got the 1st, can't stand 274, guess I need to pic up 492.

The dictator looks perfect for a Warhammer IIC

I have been picking up CAV Mechs from eBay over the last few years, Ogre posted such great examples that I had to get some. They are a very good Mech indeed. I am at a Company in strength and growing....Battle!  O0

Very interesting, anyone know how the CAV infantry compare?
