Battle of Twycross
« on: 13 April 2013, 23:58:41 »
What was the name/composition of the second-line units who fought on Twycross when Victor and the AFFC retook it in 3050? There are inconsistencies.

According to the Jade Falcon Sourcebook, the only other unit besides the Falcon Guards were the Jade Eyrie Cluster, or the Jade Falcon Eyrie Cluster, depending on which page number you're looking at. According to the book, the Jade Eyrie Cluster was a second-line unit with mostly IS 'Mechs (presumably refitted), but no mention is made of Twycross in the unit's description. Still, its entirely possible the Cluster could have been rebuilt between Twycross and Tukayyid.

But ~

Lethal Heritage indicates the second line forces the AFFC fought were roughly "a regiment and a half". This indicates about three clusters or possibly even a full Galaxy, not counting support personnel.

The Battle for Twycross Scenario Pack never gives the second-line force a name.

Field Manual: Crusader Clans and Operational Turning Points: Falcon Incursion both list the Jade Falcon Eyrie Cluster as taking part in the battle of Coventry, years later, still a second-line unit with green warriors. Again, totally possible the unit could have been rebuilt.

Era Report: 3052 talks about the battle in detail, but never gives a name for the second-line command in the main description. In the "Touchpoint" track, it lists the Jade Falcon Eyrie
Cluster as a defending force, but make no other mention of other units.

So - were there other units?

The AFFC only fought the Falcon Guards and Jade Falcon Eyrie Cluster on Twycross.

Okay, thanks!

Did any part of the Jade Eyrie escape? Or were they later rebuilt?

Related question:

What was the date of the battle to re-take Twycross?

According to Lethal Heritage and the Battle of Twycross scenario pack, it was September 10.

According to Era Report 3052, it was September 22.

Thanks.
