Jihad Fiction
« on: 25 April 2013, 20:20:35 »
I'm attempting to do a more-or-less straight read through of the "main" BT books up to and through the Dark Age, to cruise into the new setting.

I'm fast approaching the FCCW and The End. (Of the Roc classic BT books, anyway.)

I haven't really delved into the BattleCorps stuff...which stories, if any, fill the void of "main" Jihad-era fiction (the overarching plot, stuff on the level of the Stackpole trilogies, etc.).

Thanks!

Well, the Jihad Hot Spots books pretty much carry the "spine" of the story.  I think "Shadows of Faith" was intended to serve as a "main" bit of lead-in Jihad fiction, but that was never completed, nor was "Black Mist Rising" which probably would have delved deeper into the Black Dragon society.

In terms of Jihad fiction, chronologically (starting from the end of the 2nd Star League), we have:

3067-12-06 - Thirteen - Tharkad (Lyran irregulars/reservists mobilize to fight the Blakist invaders)

"We have made of New Avalon a towering funeral pyre and wiped the Davion scourge from the universe.  Tikonov, Chesterton and Andurien are ours once more, and the cheers of the Capellan people nearly drown out the gnashing of our foes' teeth as they throw down their weapons in despair.  Now I am made First Lord of the Star League, and all shall bow down to me and pay homa...oooooo! Good for you, Cubby! I've been catching up in a similar way since I dropped out in the early Clan Invasion days - everyone says I'm mad when I tell them I've been reading the classic series. Thanks to Mendrugo for that list, too.

It's there as "The Frost Advances" and "The Winds of Spring"
