FM:3145 questions
« on: 12 September 2013, 19:16:59 »
Hello.

*On page 139 of Field Manual: 3145, it's noted that the Fidelis' WarShip Flatus was once the ComStar vessel Bordeaux. However, according to a prior Q&A entry on these boards, Bordeaux was destroyed at the Luyten 68-28 system in the previous century.

Has the prior statement been retracted? If so, is there a new sccount for that WarShip's status prior to its re-naming for use with the Fidelis? And if not, is some other vessel intended to serve as the Flatus instead?

*In the data provided on that same page for Fortress Republic's emergency resource extraction program, it is noted that asteroid mining is seeing a major resurgence.

Would this include the kind of operations which the Belters might support in (or beyond) the Sol system, or have the Belters declined to support the Republic's efforts as of 3145?

(And on a side note, it was mentioned in ISP3 that the Belters were producing JumpShips for export to the early Republic back in 3095. Would the same be true as of 3145, and might their output be high enough to help the Fortress establish a healthier level of transport and courier traffic than it might not possess otherwise?)

*It is noted that Interstellar Expeditions is still in operation as of 3145, at least in terms of supporting its anti-spinward and rimward operations. Are its coreward ops still a going concern at this time?

And is the interdiction preventing IE from operating in the coreward Deep Periphery sector still in place? (As in, do the Council of Six Clans still patrol the nearer portion of the region, offering the same barrier to IE operations that they had been doing as of 3095? Or rather, is IE at the point where they are no longer willing to risk it either way?)

Hi,

In order:

* The fate of the Bordeaux given on these forums was a lie, to avoid spoiling that it became the Flatus.

* They can make as many JumpShips as the plot requires, and no more.

* Maybe. But the Clans and piracy in that region are more aggressive, especially to Sphere-based organizations. IE has thus scaled back its coreward operations accordingly.

Thanks,

- Herb

Understood, thanks.

I see.

On a political level, would the Belters see their relationship with the Republic as unchanged, or would they feel any of the urgency/danger that the planet-bound citizens inside the Fortress might feel to their would-be conquerors as of 3145?

Sounds reasonable.

Oh, and I forgot to add: is the nature of IE's spinward operations unchanged from ISP3, ir is there a new base world which they are using to support deployments to that sector?

And does IE still exist as a going concern inside Fortress Republic itself, or would its operations within the Republic have been wound down at some point prior to 3145?

Hi,

As to the Belters' perceived political relationships (and importance), it remains too minor a plot point for us to concern ourselves with overmuch.

As to IE's operations circa 3145, we simply do not know.

Thanks,

- Herb

Thanks again.

Is there scope for a future sourcebook that might update IE (or the "new" Deep Periphery sectors it may still operate in) for 3145, or is that the kind of discussion that cannot be aired in public at this time?

In that case, here's hoping they find a new niche to occupy publication-wise if/when the time is ripe for them to do so.

Thank you for your time.

Actually, that the Bordeaux was destroyed was no lie. It was destroyed by the Word of Blake at Luyten. But because the location of the world was a pretty good secret, the Republic was able to salvage and repair the vessel later without it being public knowledge (unlike the other vessels which make up the RAF navy, which everyone knows they salvaged as it was done in open view in the Terran system).

With regards
Øystein

Hi,

Meh. Either way. After a while, I just assume I'm always wrong....

Thanks,
