Randall will be making some small announcements and listing street dates and such in the next week or so, but in the meantime I figured I'd let you know that Total Warfare is being reprinted as we speak.

I can't speak exactly about the Box Set, as there's move involved, but I can say that it's with a better manufacturer (those of you who attended the BattleTech seminar at GenCon saw the night and difference in the new miniatures, completely night and day), and my understanding is that production is either set to start or already in the midst. (Note, Randall should address this in one of the future announcements/blogs, but I did want to touch base on that so you all know it's actually in progress and not forgotten).

I know it's been quiet, so I just wanted to make sure you guys hear from an official source, we're still hard at work. I can say I'm working on the Field Reports and XTROs at least, and gathering information for art for new BT products. Herb is neck deep into Interstellar Operations, and we're all looking over the coming schedule and we've got some exciting things planned. Honestly, there's quite a bit I wish I could share, but we can't just yet. ;)

(edit: Looks like one cat is out of the bag: A New Succession Wars Boardgame? — enjoy :D)

Awesome! I want a new copy of Total Warfare so bad. I'm still working off of the second printing and aside from being quite out of date thanks to all the errata, is branded as "Classic" BattleTech and that bothers me a lot more than it perhaps should.

Woo hoo!
Glad to hear official word after the speculation thread. And glad to hear that Total Warfare is being reprinted *now* as opposed to Soon (tm). One of my points in that thread is now going to be invalidated... That said, can we do something about A Time of War too?  ;)

Yes. We've got all the errata and are ready for a reprint. Can't say when, but I can say a reprint is indeed in the works.

More like:

Alternate Eras (Total War, Succession Wars era)
"Please take TROs 3039 and the Inner Sphere part of 3050.
Set fire to following pages (pages listed).
If you can still read the other pages without going from memory, it will be allowed to play on table.
If page was crisped a bit, please use pre-existing damage rules in following section."

The board in the picture says "Commstar" is it too early for errata threads?  ;)

Nah, we know, but that'll be taken care of on redesign, so no point messing with it.

I wonder how much scope the revised version of Succession Wars might offer to alternate era support. With wars as far apart in time as the Reunification War to the looming wars of the ilClan sourcebook to consider, it would be welcome to see the game - whatever it may end up looking like - be planned to have the kind of flexibility that will allow for more than just the Succession Wars themselves to be considered.

(I kind of like the idea of picking a smaller theatre, such as Operation KLONDIKE or the Scorpion conquest of Nueva Castile, as a "training" scenario for players to settle in with before jumping into a more wide-ranging conflict.)

Great idea.  O0 I hope it plays true and doesn't take more than 3 hours to play.

I suspect it will play true... only if there is a rule for "Davion (Author) Fiat."

Look at that map!

Im trying to place the era on it. It looks all kind of wrong, like the CC has absorbed the MoC

Remember that all through the Star League(and thus up until at least the 1st Succession War), the Andurien systems were under Capellan control. It was part of the deal that brought the Liaos into the League in the first place.

Dont. It's just a game map, no set era, and as stated in the article, no where even close to final.

Well... Speaking as a Grognard who likes the Clans about as much as a severe rectal itch.......

Better to have rules for them. There are a lot of clan fans out there and they have money that CLG wants. Would be nice to have them be an option, of course, and not mandatory.

But that's just my opinion. :)

It does look like it could be possibly a post re-unification war era map except for the lack of a Terran Hegemony.
