(Answered) Frankenmech Sensors
« on: 31 December 2013, 04:44:14 »
Hello,

How does this ruling effect Frankenmechs? http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php/topic,4191.msg94121.html#msg94121

If I take a head, including cockpit sensors and life support, from one class of mech and mount it to another are the sensors "adjusted" during the mounting of the head or will "wrong sized" sensors cause problems until the sensors can be "repaired"?

Does the ruling for Frankenmechs effect the ruling from my original question? Do they have to be adjusted/repaired before they can be used? Or can they still not be used at all?

Thank you :)

It doesn't.  Refits and making a FrankenMech are 2 distinct processes with their own idiosyncrasies.  In fact, the very first sentence on p. 189 makes it clear that Frankemech rules are a bypass of the normal rules.

Adjustments are considered to have been made as a part of the work to make the FrankenMech.  You can never repair 'wrong sized' sensors, since you can never end up with them; it's not legal to have incorrectly sized ones. Rules>fluff.

No - two distinct processes.

So a 20 ton mech's head has the sensors adjusted when it's mounted on a heavier/lighter mech?

So salvaged sensors are only good for mechs of that weight? They can't be adjusted?

When using FrankenMech rules, yes.
