Here is the scenario, for those not on Facebook:
MechWarrior Clix Players (Age of Destruction) Worldwide Event
August 2014
1. Event Title - “Sandstorm”
Beginning in November 3137, House Steiner forces fought a vicious back-and-forth battle against the reforming House Marik for control of Simpson’s Desert, an important border world near regional capital Tamarind. With heavy reinforcements arriving in January 3139, will the Steiner forces finally be able to push back the Tamarind Regulars and their mercenaries?
2. Objective
Each player aims to defeat the other.
3. Battleforce Size/Composition
Two-player game; 600-point build total; four orders per turn. Determine the first player per the MechWarrior: Age of Destruction rules.
At the beginning of each game, players must declare if they are fighting for House Steiner or for House Marik. They need not play Steiner or Marik pieces in their armies – they simply have to declare which side in the conflict their army is fighting for.
4. Rules Sets
MechWarrior: Age of Destruction, Firepower, Annihilation, Domination, Vanguard, Wolf Strike, and the various Battleforce Set rules.
5. Time Limit
50 minutes.
6. Preparing the Battlefield
Only blocking and hindering terrain may be placed in the terrain pool. Alternately, you may use the Desert Oasis map from MechWarrior: Champions Volume 1 Action Pack, and not place any terrain on the battlefield. No planetary conditions or mission cards may be played.
7. Special Rules
At the start of each of their command stages, the active player rolls two six-sided dice and adds them together. The result is the maximum range value for all units on the battlefield with a maximum range greater than the result. If the result is equal to or less than the minimum range for any damage value on a unit, then ranged combat attacks may not be made with that damage value. Artillery attacks may be made with a -4 attack value modifier; the line of fire to all artillery markers is blocked.
8. Victory Conditions
Use MechWarrior: Age of Destruction victory conditions.
9. Special “Worldwide Event” Rules:
Players are encouraged to schedule as many events as possible. Events must be scheduled during the month of August, but otherwise have no other restrictions. Cross the hallway and play against your brother. Email all the former MW players in your area and get them to a game store for a massive tournament. Meet up with your cousin’s sister’s best friend for a game at the local YMCA – we don’t care. As long as it is scheduled on the Facebook page (or this forum page), it’ll count.
Each win in a single game for either side in the conflict (Steiner or Marik) will count towards the total results. After the end of the month, the tally will be counted and a winning faction proclaimed. What does the winning faction earn? Pride, glory, and bragging rights – until the next Worldwide Event anyway! What does the losing faction earn? Shame, humiliation, and a burning desire to avenge themselves in the next Worldwide Event!
