Human Sphere Maps
« on: 25 September 2014, 18:53:24 »
Hi All,

As some people here may know, I've been compiling a database of planetary systems, coordinates and faction ownership in various eras of Battletech. With the data I was able to organize from the various sourcebooks it would be possible to generate a complete map of the Human Sphere, from the Succession Houses, Near Periphery Powers, Clan Homeworlds, and even deep periphery systems.

With a lot of free time on my hands I was able to make these:

2571
2596
2765
3075
3145
All systems, no borders

Best part is the files are searchable!

Just added 2765!

This is the year one man changed the course of the history of the Inner Sphere forever. The murder of Richard Cameron at the hands of Stefan Amaris destroyed one Great House and plunged the rest of the Inner Sphere into a series of wars that spanned over three centuries. The 2765 shows the Human Sphere at the peak of the Star League, and the eve of the end of House Cameron. This is the most dense map we have available, showing more inhabited star systems than any other era in BattleTech History.

And by popular demand, I've also uploaded the complete star map showing all systems ever shown in a map, with no borders.

enjoy!

With the release of Handbook: House Kurita, I was able to generate a full Human Sphere map dated 2571. Also, the other maps have been updated (slightly reduced file size) and added the one new system that appeared in the 2319 map on HB:HK.

3075 map updated based on info from Interstellar Ops BETA, particularly, Duchy of Andurien and Tamarind separating from FWL earlier than 3079.

2596, the state of the Inner Sphere and Periphery realms at the end of the Reunification War. Here we see significant changes in the borders of FWL-MOC, FS-TC, FS-OA and DC-OA in the aftermath of the Star League-backed war.

Amazing!

I have a burning question though...

There are some Wobbie Worlds on the 3145 map... Are there some left in Canon?

I figured that's the cluster of Grays 'out west' (I couldn't pick the colours apart on my phone...)

Hi, the identity of the remaining WoB hidden worlds were disclosed in these forums a while back, and those systems (in CC and FS space) were undiscovered as of 3145, so I marked them as still belonging to WoB.
This may or may not change in the future depending on future publications. The maps are representative of current available canon information but are themselves not canonical.
The gray-ish blob on the west side of the map is a faction discussed in ISP3, which in-universe is dated 3095.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I'll be releasing a new map soon, as well as minor updates on the borders of a few of the existing ones. If you see anything wrong with the borders give me a shout out.

Volt, if you don't mind me asking, what was the new system?

The new system was Lamar, which was part of the Tamar Pact in 2319, but was no longer in the 2341 founding map of the Lyran Commonwealth.

Thanks!

I've been helping JayOf9s with the MekHQ planetary data and we just recently updated it to use your coordinate system as it was using a hodge podge or yours coupled with the original coordinates.  As part of that effort about a thousand systems that were missing but in your spreadsheet were also added.  But all of that work was pre HBHK, so seeing that you found a new system I wanted to make sure that it got into MekHQ.

Thanks again and thank you for your work on this!

You're more than welcome. So that you can check to see if everything has been added to MekHQ, I currently have on record 3140 unique systems with coordinates. Multiple planets belonging to one star system have been merged (Mica, Niops, etc) and the various nebulae are not included (Caliban, Dark Nebula, etc) because they're irregularly shaped, but I think I do have their center point coordinates saved somewhere.

quick update, lastjedi over at ourbattletech.com found a system that I missed on the far rimward section of the map found in ISP3. This system brings our total up to 3141 named and plotted systems.

I will be updating the maps soon, as the new system is located outside my present +/-1,950LY range.

Oh sorry, I have not updated the files to reflect the new system discovered, and I'm currently migrating from Dropbox to Google Drive. Will post the new links once I've updated the maps and reorganized my files. My bad...

sorry for the delay. Links have been updated. the 3075, 3145 and No Borders maps have been updated to reflect the new system. The print dimension has also been increased from 40"x40" to 92"x92". Will work on updating the 2571, 2596 and 2765 maps in the coming weeks.

Several of these were blocked by Norton as dangerous files.  I was only able to download 3075, 2765 & All systems.  Is anyone else having trouble downloading them?
