That's okay, I still won the fight. Through the power of positive thinking and... mostly by shooting your 'Mechs in the head. A lot.

Sorry to hijack the awards thread.  O0

IIRC that battle was the one where I had no survivors cause I crippled one of your mechs so it couldn't escape and your scouting mission of the base I was defending turned into mass slaughter of my forces :P

Tall about "Your life didn't work out as planned" lol.

And I'm completely shameless about threadjacking in this case, cause I love this thread :D

Well, another weekend and another battle! In this case, it was an odd affair as a Shadow Division were tasked with wiping out a regular WoBM unit and allied mercenaries. Confused? You should be! The battle was rather bloody and accident prone, with the Shadows emerging triumphant at the end of the day.

Why, of course, is another matter. It's the Word. Go figure.

Anyway, on with the awards!

The Man of the Match award went to the SD Dragon Fire for putting down both a Titan II and a Cerberus while taking only light armour damage in return. That’s a lot!

The Arseing It Up award went to Asses O'Flemyyteuiop for skidding his Osiris into a building and wrecking its gyro before it had the chance to fire, or for that matter, before it was ever in line-of-sight to anything. He then killed himself trying to get up the next turn. Arsed up indeed! Ironically, that Osiris was one of the few losses the SD forces took.

The Fizziks Enjin award goes to the skidding Malak that managed to push a SD King Crab out of its way while sliding out of control. This move also managed to shove the King Crabbe out of LOS of the only target it had. To make matters worse, the Malak managed to skid and fall nearly every turn, meaning that it won the Self Inflicted Wounds award after it took its arm off.

The Hey, your head is on fire award goes to the WoBM Nexus for having its head destroyed by a plasma cannon. Ouchies!

The Golden BB award goes to the Dragon Fire for putting two pellets from its LBX into the damaged head of a Titan II in the same shot. Said head had two points of structure left. Noice.

The Face Down in the Gutter award goes to a mercenary Beserker for blowing its hip on a MASC roll, then on the next turn falling while trying to cross a river. The result was that it didn't have enough MP left to actually stand. (Note: Any Beserker in a MM game I'm in seems to be inherently doomed to a humiliating demise. Don't play one if you're playing against me!)

The Career-Limiting Move award went to the mercenary Dervish who casually strolled out in front of the SD King Crab. One turn took him from "fresh" to "debris".

The World's Most Annoying Thing award went to the mercenary Falcon for its constant jumping pulse laser spam. It didn't do much damage but certainly managed to hit well above it's weight in aggravation.

It's allways ugly when siblings fight. And when it's a clash between Wolf Empire and Wolf in Exile forces, there's no way that it can be pretty. The blood flowed thick and freely as huge chunks of the map and both forces exploded, caught fire or found amusing ways to maim themselves. In the end, the Empire won, but not without handing out a few awards along the way.

The Man of the Match award goes to the Loki Mk II B for it's gratuitous mis-use of its Long Tom Cannon. While it never killed anything, it liberally dished out damage across the board, resulting in plenty of fire and explosions. The same Slowki also won the Intentional Collateral Damage for deliberately dropping a Long Tom Cannon shot on a fuel tank, blowing it up and helping toast a WiE Gotterdamerung

The Vulture of the Match award went to an Empire Mad Cat Mk IV for getting the most kills. Of course, given that all of those were achieved by pouring fire into already wounded targets, it's hard to give him any actual credit. (Note: This award didn't go to either of the two Vultures present. Make of this what you will)

The Playing Like a Pudding award goes to the Warwolf for never hitting with anything other then a handful of ATMs. His name is now Pudding Wolf. To his credit, he did manage to hit an Ursa. That was prone and immobile, and in an adjacent hex. Clearly Pudding Wolf is a ristar worthy of such a prestigious 'Mech!

The Missiles of Mass Destruction award goes to an Empire Vulture Mk III C for the mass carnage it inflicted with its Streak SRMs, including sending a WiE Mangonel from "Fresh" to "Cactus" in one go and nearly stripping the Gotterdamerung in another (Incidentally, the same turn that it got immolated by an exploding fuel tank).

The Have At Thee award went to a different Loki Mk II for, after losing both arms, engaging in a suicide charge on an Exile Ursa.

The This Seems Like A Good Plan award went to the Salamander point that jumped into a fuel tank hex. Nothing can go wrong with this. The Salamanders also won the Mah Gawd, the Carnage award for swarming a Barghest and blowing its iHGR.

The Big Bang Death award goes to the WiE Mangonel who died of having both Gauss Rifles explode in the same turn from two different Large Pulse Laser shots form the same 'Mech. Boom, boom.

The You're Doing It Wrong, You're Doing It Right award went to an Empire Vulture Mk IV for it's use of Streak LRMs... by blasting enemies with them at point blank range. Note: Not Like This.

The Stephen Bacon Memorial Award for Camp Attendance goes to a WiE Mongrel for being savaged enough to force withdrawal in the second turn. It then spent the rest of the game dicking around and slowly shedding weapons and body parts before finally fleeing.

I can't really justify today's forces in any way; given that we had a guest player, we were aiming for 'random fun' more then any real composition. So today's forces are simply going to be "Team A" and "Team B". Regardless, the battle presented us with a lot of awards.

The Man of the Match award went to a Team A Scourge; while it only killed one 'Mech (A Gauss headshot on a Pixie) it's unerringly accurate Gauss spam managed to do a lot of damage to the enemy force while taking surprisingly little in return.

The Fantastic Series of Misfortunes award went to the Team B JagerMech for its first-turn crippling. It was hit by a pair of LRM-15s (Needed 11+) to hit. One of the LRM clusters hit it in the head. Then it was hit by a Gauss Rifle (again, 11+ to hit) that knocked out an actuator. The pilot failed their PSR to stay upright (needed 6+) or to avoid pilot damage (5+) and then fell unconscious (5+ again). After waking up, they took a hip hit, fell, took another point of pilot damage and blacked out again, remaining that way for the rest of the match.

The This Will End Well award went to the Team B War Dog after it fell from firing its HGR and damaged its gyro. Getting up, it fired its HGR again, falling and wrecking its gyro.

The Conga Line of Death award went to the group of Team A of BattleMechs advancing across the map's sole bridge in a nice neat row. Given that it was a Warlord, a Bandersatch, an Archer and a Carronade, this team was unsurprisingly hard to stop.

The Speedbump award went to the Team B task force assigned to block the aforesaid Conga Line and prevent their advance. It was a lone Wolfhound. The roadblock was quickly cleared.

The Nice shooting Tex went to the Team A War Dog for putting a Gauss Rifle shot into an Arctic Fox. It hit the CT with a TAC, taking out the gyro. The shot also crushed the armour, taking out an engine hit to boot.

The Unreasonable Threat Level award went to the Team A Uziel-8S who seemed to incite rage in its opponents. The result was that it was being chased by a Marauder, a Crusader, a Toro and a Lynx, all intent on destroying it to the exclusion of all else.

The Walking Bomb award went to the Team B Crusader which went from "fresh" to "exploded" in one turn as a Scourge put a Gauss Rifle into it's back.

The Boot to the Head award went to the Team A Venom for kicking a Ceasar's head off after jumping to the elevation above it. Hilarity ensued.

The Double Dead award went to the Team B Phoenix Hawk. It got shot through the head with a Gauss Rifle in the same turn as the AMS ammo exploded. The result was that the dead pilot was auto-ejected. Eww.

The Where Did I Go Wrong award went to the Team A Warlord for a series of horrible events. It suffered a CT TAC that gave it an engine and gyro hit, while managing to miss with almost all of the medium laser spam it was unleashing. Following that, it managed to stumble and fall prone, knocking itself unconscious at the feet of the Ceasar who promptly finished it off.

The Lynx Effect award went to the Team B Lynx for spending most of its time chasing the Uziel to very little effect before instead deciding that it would take a backshot at a Dragon Fire. This saw it not only do very little actual damage, but also get wailed on and lose its PPC to a Scourge and Uziel.

The Brave but Dumb award goes to the Team B Excalibur for bum-steering a Cataplut. While a good plan, this also bought it under fire from a Scourge, Archer, War Dog and the aforesaid Cataplut. That ended briefly and messily.

Finally, the Harpo Award for Participation went to the Team B Toro for managing to not do a thing for the battle. It spent most of its time half-heartedly chasing the Uziel while taking the occasional long-range shot at whatever managed to get it's limited attention.

Today's post is not an award, but rather codifying a law.

The Hellstar Testing Principle states that any attempt to test something in Megamek, be it new tech, a new 'Mech or anything else, will end with a fluke hit or unforeseen circumstance that teaches you absolutely nothing.

For example, you decide to take the Tomahawk II out for a spin and put it up against Hellstar, figuring the two to be a good match. On the first turn, the sole shot that hits is an ER PPC from the Hellstar that incinerates the Tomahawk II's head. You gain nothing from this that you didn't allready know (ie, a Clan ER PPC to the head kills something and that Hellstar is not nice)

This is so true. I do not recall how many times I have been testing a unit when it gets head capped or TAC critted to cockpit/gyro/hip/ammo/triple crit to engine/leg blown off the beginning of the game.
If the enemy is in range most likely so are you.

A brief skirmish between Jade Falcon and Wolf Empire forces yielded very little besides the occasional person falling off the side of a volcano. However, it did yield some dubious awards.

The Walking Bomb award went to the Empire Warwolf for its demise. In one turn, both its Gauss Rifle and one of its iHLLs managed to blow up, which badly damaged the 'Mech. They also did enough damage to the pilot to kill him. Ouchies.

The Worlds Most Annoying Thing award went to a Falcon Eyrie for jumping around like an idiot and spamming missiles and kicks. The combination of the two (Did you know it can do over fourty points of damage?) knocked down a Night Wolf and busted its hip.

And finally, the Brilliant Ineptitude award went to one of the Falcon Skadi pilots for missing a PSR and sideslipping into an empire Balac, managing to destroy both craft in the ensuing crash.

Again, not going to try and justify the forces in this one beyond "Team A" and "Team B". What I will say was that it was an utter farce and that all involved should be filled with shame and pudding.

Mmm, pudding.

The Man of The Match award, in so far as anyone earned it in this train wreck, went to the Team A Fafnir for getting the most kills and, more to the point, not exploding despite the best efforts of all involved. This also earned it the Unstoppable award for being pretty much a stumbling wreck by the time the battle was done, but still alive enough to finish the battle by stomping an enemy Fafnir to death.

The pair of them also won the Kaiju Rampage award for the simple fact that there were duelling Fafnirs, duking it out for pretty much the entire match. That it ended with a kick should tell you just how messy it got.

The Epic Fail of Epicness and Fail goes to a Team A Ursa for it's amazing self-destruction. It failed a 3+ MASC roll, blew a hip, fell, TAC'd its Gyro in the fall and, to top it all off, the pilot blacked out from damage. Consider that it was near fresh when it started that turn.

Conversely, the Sheer ****** Survival award went to the Team A Legacy. It lost one of it's Ultra-10s and its right arm early. It then jammed the other Ultra-10. All this happened while three 'Mechs were wailing on it. It survived, managing to kill opponents with a Streak-4 and a Small Laser.

The You Go Snooze Now award goes to the Team B Marauder for spending several turns unconscious and, as such, allowing Team A to re-position it's forces to deal with other threats. Overheating with Life Support damage will do that.

The Warrior VTOL lost its rotor (IIRC from LB-X spam) and ended up immobile at the feet of the Panther when the physical attacks phase started. Hence, your life not working out as planned.
That's not supposed to happen any more, in the latest errata to TW a VTOL whose rotors are destroyed is destroyed itself, which interestingly actually increase the chance of the unit surviving the game

Weird. All I remember is that it somehow ended up dead and immobile and being kicked. Don't have the logs any more.

With that being said, it's time for another round of awards. In the early 3060s, a crack mercenary unit set out to stem the tide of Capellan expansion into the Chaos March. Could they do it? Well, no, actually. The first battle of what was intended to be a mini-campaign was a complete farce with the mercenaries being humiliatingly defeated. However, in that, there were a number of awards to be handed out.

The Man of the Match award is shared between two different 'Mechs. The first was a CCAF Pillager for being a relentless, godless, unstoppable, blood-soaked killing machine. The second was a mercenary Hatchetman for managing to come out of a crushing defeat near-unscathed while scoring the most kills of the losing team. Huh?

The You Got Your BV's Worth award went to the mercenary leader, an Elite pilot in a 9Q Awesome. He was headcapped by the Pillager in turn one. So yeah.

The Sympathetic Detonation award went to the mercenary Marauder 5S and Dragon Fire for both dying of exploding Gauss Rifles in the same turn. There was a lot of Gauss-induced carnage in this one.

The Scrape Him Up, He's Done award went to the mercenary King Crab. While CASE limited the damage from an ammo explosion, the pilot was knocked unconscious from the damage and subsequent fall. He promptly remained unconscious for the rest of the match.

The Axe Cop Award for Arbitrary Decapitation goes to the Mercenary Hatchetman for lopping off a Clint's head with its hatchet in one turn and then, in the next, crushing the cockpit of a Vindicator.

Finally, the Better Part of Valor award goes to the Mercenary Bushwhacker for being the first to retreat when everything went south.

Operation GOLDEN FORTRESS continues as the nascent RAF attempts to push back the combined forces of the CCAF and MAF as well as their allied mercenaries. With both sides drawing on reserves, the fight was coming down to the wire.

The battle quickly became a confused mess of overlapping ECM and ECCM bubbles as forces met, twisted, tangled and thoroughly hated VTOLs of all types. The RAF suffered sudden severe losses (Two Gauss headshots in the same turn) but were able to push back, bringing the battle down to the wire. In the end, the CCAF were able to claim the most marginal of victories, with only a third of their forces operable.

So who would take awards away from this fight?

The Man of the Match award went to nobody. Really. For the most part, the RAF forces spent their time trying to stay alive, while the CCAF and their allies were slogging through a mass of immobilised and incapacitated vehicles. There was nobody deserving of the award. Everyone was filled with shame and pudding.

The Luckiest and Unluckiest Man Alive award went to MechWarrior Philip Morris' Vice President of Marketing for District 70, Pyongyang. His unharmed Quickdraw suffered a first-turn ammo explosion that destroyed it and caused him to eject - and leaving him at the feet of the CCAF Shadow Hawk responsible for the explosion. The Shad then tried to kick him, only to miss. He was then grabbed by the Shad and held prisoner for the rest of the match.

The Luckiest and Unluckiest Woman Alive went to Princess Exposition. Her near fresh Marshall was shot out from underneath her by the RAF forces, but she was able to eject. The next turn she was in the same hex as an RAF Partisan and killed when it exploded.

The Graduate of the Shia LeBouf Mechwarrior School award went to the mercenary Gallowgas for falling over every turn. Sometimes multiple times in the same turn. He eventually fell one too many times and broke his leg off, and then died an ignoble death of being shot up by Battle Armour.

The Worlds Most Annoying Thing award went to the CCAF SHD-8L Shadow Hawk for combining improved jump jets and Stealth Armour to make it damn near impossible to land a hit on.

The Limp Along Home award went to the MAF Warrior VTOL; after losing all it's weaponry while managing to stay alive, it decided to retreat. However, the same attacks had left it with only 1 MP, so it was very, very slowly retreating.

The Die Hard and not Die of it award went to the RAF Marksman MBT which was immobilized by the CCAF. However, it took another three turns of a half-dozen units wailing on it in order to actually kill it.

The Twiddling His Thumbs award went to the Mercenary Myrmidon tank which was immobilised and turret locked very early in the game and wound up sitting there doing nothing for the rest of the game with nothing going near it.

A clash between the Wolf Empire and the LCAF quickly degenerated into a brawl as the two sides tore into each other. And while the Wolf Empire was able to claim a victory, the cost was rather high at the end of the day.

With that being said, there were of course awards to hand out.

The Man of the Match award went to the Empire Tundra Wolf 4 for doing more damage then anyone else. Unerringly accurate Pulse Laser Spam saw it carve up an Archer and a Starslayer while it was being wailed on by half a dozen opponents. Even with a gaping hole in its chest it managed to not only keep going, but direfully outperform the so-called ristar leading from his Warwolf.

The Drunken Driving award conversely goes to said Warwolf for falling over at every opportunity. Things got so bad that when it took a gyro hit, its rate of falling over didn't increase.

Conversely, the Twinkletoes award went to the Fenris D for spending much of the game running at full speed with a gyro hit, and never falling over once (Well, save for when it lost its leg). I think there's a lesson in that for all of us.

The Burnsauce award went to the Lobo 2 for its gratuitous use of plasma weaponry, managing to incinerate a JES II and take it from 'fresh' to 'charred' in one turn while also giving a Schildkrote a severe burn. It also won the Immolated in a Blaze Of Glory award when the Jessie's friends decided to wail on it in retaliation, leaving it with two engine hits, a gyro hit, an exploded APGR and a very ignoble death.

The Useless Pile of Warg Doo-Doo award went to the Empire Warg BA point who never got anywhere near the battle. At all. They never even got a shot off.

The Ignore Them At Your Own Peril award went to a LCAF Fenrir II squad for coming out of nowhere and sawing the Fenris' leg off.

The Stewed in his own Juice award went to the LCAF Zeus X for taking two engine hits right near the start of the battle. Engine hits + XXL = Ouchies, thank you very much.

The Die Damn You Die award went to the LCAF Schildkrote for being wailed upon by the Warwolf, Lobo, Fenris and eventually a Blood Reaper who happened along before finally giving up.

The Nobody's Home award went to the LCAF Manticore II for losing its crew to a swarm attack and ending up as a stupidly expensive paperweight.

And finally the We are the Doggy Doggy Dogs award goes to the number of collective Wolf and/or Dog themed units there were in the fight. When the Empire fights the LCAF, this is bound to happen.

I have one for you to run across in your game. Kicking the tires before a test drive award.

Quote
Physical attacks for Phoenix Hawk PXH-1D (Cameron)
Kick (Left leg) at Galleon Light Tank GAL-200 (Graham IV Militia); needs 2, rolls 10 :  - Direct Blow - hits (using Right Side table) RS
Galleon Light Tank GAL-200 (Graham IV Militia) takes 11 damage to RS.
            Armor destroyed,             SECTION DESTROYED,
*** Galleon Light Tank GAL-200 (Graham IV Militia) DESTROYED by damage! ***
Critical hit on RS. Roll is (10+2) = 12; Fuel Tank Hit (Vehicle Explodes).

That particular pilot did this three times before taking an AC/20 to the chest.

The ever-increasingly desperate Exiles raided into Falcon space, only to face stiffer then expected opposition from a second-line force. A bloody brawl ensued in which both forces threw Zell to the wind in with the Falcons' thirst for blood facing the Wolves' determination to survive. The result was that the Exile force was crushed, but not before inflicting some damage of their own.

But first, some awards.

The Man of the Match award went to the Falcon BattleMaster C for its slow, steady and relentless advance, blasting all before it with a horrific combination of HAG and Medium Pulse Laser spam. Scoring the equal most kills, it also did more damage then anything else on the battlefield.

The Cizin Kane award went to a Falcon Cizin hovertank that skidded into a building. Rather then try to extract itself, the crew used its position in the middle of the Exile forces to fire from cover.

The Boneyard award went to the collection of immobilised vehicles that duked it out at the back of the battlefield, each slowly grinding the others into the dust. A Falcon Ku IFV and Kite dueled with an Exile Bandit Mk II and a pair of Saxons, none of them going anywhere fast. Nobody won.

The Weapons Free award went to the Falcon Sylph point for their bombing run that immobilised an Exile Vedette and Manticore II. It also splashed a Falcon Griffin IIC. Oops.

The Or That Could Happen award went to an Exile Warhammer IIC which decided to crush a wounded Falcon Ocelot. And while he did take it down, the Ocelot put a LPL through its damaged head for its troubles.

The Destruction of Jared Syn award went to the Falcon Carnivore (HAG) for the storm of metal it vomited forth, never once missing a shot while managing to do horrific amounts of damage. It immobilised as many tanks as the damn Sylphs.

Finally, the Self-Kicking Dog award went to the Exile Arctic Wolf II for trying to deal with said Carnivore. In doing so, it opened itself up to fire from it, a second (standard) Carnivore and two Sekhmets. That saw it go from "fresh" to "radioactive rubble" in nothing flat.

The CCAF's initial push into the Republic following the blackout met a wide range of opponents; planetary militias, mercenaries, RAF line units and the Swordsworn. In turn, the CCAF, not yet willing (or able) to play its full hand were also supported by mercenaries and other units, such as Bannson's Raiders. It was such a confrontation that provided the basis for today's battle; the CCAF probing Republican forces, both sides supported by mercenaries and irregulars.

The CCAF units, for their part, didn't play by the usual rules. Surprisingly, they put together a fully functional C3 Network, and used ECCM to ensure that it stayed operational. Force cohesion was surprisingly strong, though Maskrovika "encouragement" probably helped. The RAF units, by comparison, didn't gel well with their allies.

The battle is still ongoing, but so far the results have been an interesting lesson in combined arms and pyromania.

The He died and then he died of it award went to the Pro-Republic Merc Warrior VTOL, for losing it's rotor, having its front destroyed and suffering an Ammo explosion all from the one round of fire. Clearly someone wanted that VTOL dead.

The Luddite's Revenge award went to the RAF Hawk Moth VTOL which managed to survive a round of fire... only to have the Industrial hex it was flying over explode and knock it out of the sky, killing it.

The You've Got A Lot Of Explaining To Do went to the RAF Dervish which ended up going from "fresh" to "lying prone, minus half your armour and in a hex that's on fire" in one turn.

The Paperweight award went to the CCAF JES II for being immobilised in a remote corner of the map while facing nothing even remotely useful. It then also won the Fourth of July  award when all umpty-dozen tons of LRM ammo went up at once.

The Cyrano de Bergerac award for pyromania went to a CCAF Merc Cyrano for blowing a fuel tank which, in turn, scorched a RAF Nightstar and Maelstrom. It then repeated the act on a second tank, further scorching the Nightstar and immobilising a Manticore. A third tank (Apparently they didn't learn to keep away from them) further torched the Maelstrom and incinerated a Dervish.

I read that as: You've Got A Lot Of Exploding To Do. You should use that.

In a company vs. company battle between the Crapellan Confederation and the Republic of the Sphere we see a decent amount of action, and some wonderfully dubious awards.

The Now You See Me, Now You Don't award for surviving a massive amount for fire, then engine exploding all over the place after being kicked goes to the Republic AS7-K2 Atlas for eating 140+ damage before exploding to a kick all over several mechs from both sides.

The Hold the Line and Die award for conspicuous stupidity goes to the Capellan Yu Huang for losing 70% of it's weapons, an arm, and most of it's armor, yet staying in the fight.

The Nowacki Award For Uselessness goes to the Capellan CO in his Eyleuka for running around, doing very little damage, and then getting his engine cored by a 35t Falcon Hawk from behind.

The Man of the Match award goes to the Republic Supernova for absorbing damage without any crits for several rounds while killing virtually everything it shoots at, and the Capellan Pillager for surviving till the last turn while acquiring three of the five kills against for the Capellans.

The Lucky Bastard award goes to both the Republic Marauder and the Capellan Vindicator for both getting beat to snot and yet surviving multiple rounds that should have killed them.

The They Shootin', They Shootin! award for cowardice goes to the Capellan Men Shen for doing everything he possibly can to avoid being in the line of fire for the entire match. Then he ran after the first real damage against him. Of course, Only 1 other Capellan Mech was functional at that time.

The Bigger Than My Tonnage award goes to the pair of Republic Falcon Hawk for being far more effective than their tonnage would imply.

The I Didn't Go Boom?! award for luck goes to the Republic Marauder for not having any ammo to explode when failing an OH check. Twice.

The I Expected More Of You award goes to the Capellan Pillager. While it did a fair amount of damage, it was almost all to armor. It took 8 rounds to finally kill the Republic Supernova.

The Streak Master award goes to the Republic Arctic Wolf for hitting with all his Streak SRMs on almost every turn, assisting with several kills.

The Complete Waste of Effort award goes to the Capellan forces for losing 11 mechs in exchange for only 5 of the Republic mechs, with the Republic controlling the field and getting all the salvage.

And the Match wins the Quaking Ball of Hellfire award for almost half the deaths resulting in or caused by engine and ammo explosions.

Continuing and concluding a prior match...

The result was an interesting lesson in combined arms and pyromania. And while the CCAF won the day, any strategic value from taking the Dirtistan Oil fields was probably reduced by the fact that much of it was now on fire.

With that being said, there were awards to be handed out including, for the first time ever, a triple award.

The Man of the Match as well as the Disproportionate Carnage award and the Cyrano de Bergerac award for pyromania went to a CCAF Merc Cyrano for blowing a fuel tank which, in turn, scorched a RAF Nightstar and Maelstrom. It then repeated the act on a second tank, further scorching the Nightstar and immobilising a Manticore. A third tank (Apparently they didn't learn to keep away from them) further torched the Maelstrom and incinerated a Dervish. A fourth fuel tank (!) again torched the Nightstar, which by this point had only taken damage from exploding fuel tanks.  A fifth one immolated a RAF Demon Tank which had the misfortune of being immobilized next to it.

The Nikki Lauda award went to the RAF Nightstar for managing to be caught by exploding fuel tanks three times. And yet, he kept moving next to them. To make matters worse, the one time it managed to be away from a fuel tank, it took a TAC from an LBX pellet that took out its gyro. Ironically, that was the only time it took damage from actual enemy fire.

The To the last I Take potshots at thee award went to a CCAF Regulator II; after being immobilized, the only thing it could hit was an RAF Ajax which was not only immobilised but also had no functional weapons left. The Regulator II won, for broad values of the term.

The Dirt Nap award went to the pro-CCAF Fortune for spending most of the game stunned before recovering in the last turn and putting an LBX pellet into the Nightstar's gyro. It was then stunned.

It's been a while since I handed out some of these. Today's match certainly deserved them.

Today was all about themed lance construction and themed units rather then any sort of logical scenario. The result was a force consisting of CCAF, RSMC and ComStar units taking on a mixture of RAF, FWLM and TDF forces. The results were... devastating, albiet not in a way that you usually expect. (But then, with Regulans, Taurians and Cappelans involved, a massive conflaguration was likely inevitable).

And now, on with the awards!

The Man of the Match award as well as the Disproportionate Carnage and the Toho Model Studio awards went to the CCAF Yinghuochong who took a passing shot at a Fuel Tank for the sake of it. The resultant explosion killed a Thunderbolt, Blackjack-O, Shockwave and Phoenix Hawk in one fel swoop, while also stripping the armour off a Prefect, knocking one hip off a Shadow Hawk and damaging a half-dozen other 'Mechs. And, to boot, it destroyed nearly every building on the map. And then he kicked out a Hunchback's hip to prove a point.

Wow.

After that, there were still awards to hand out. The Yeah Man, I Gnaw Your Fase Off award went to a RSMC Sarath for kicking things to death with its Talons. Any other match and he could have been a contender for the MotM award, as it technically got the most kills of anyone.

Conversely, the Harpo Award for Participation went to a CCAF Shen Yi for spending most of the battle skulking at the back of the pack and sending the occasional ineffectual LRM barrage at whatever caught his attention.

The What Did You Hope To Accomplish award went to the RAF Storm Tempest for an inexplicable jump into a depth 1 water hex. This granted it some limited cover, but not enough to prevent it from taking 20 points of damage. It then failed a PSR, flooded its side torso, and drowned. Amazing.

The Vulture of the Match award went to the CG Osprey for finishing off 'Mechs that other people had allready damaged. It landed very few actual hits, but still managed the equal most actual kills.
