The Scoprion's prior to their move had built a couple of test beds for more exotic fare.
The use of the hoplite was seen as a perfect example due to its robustness and ease of maintenance.
Rebuilding the Hoplite in its entirety, a new re-inforced structure was used (referred to Star League HO-02s), on top of that was a skin of the latest ferro lamellor armour, 13 tons of it.
The weapons package remained the same except clan spec versions of it (ER PPC and LRM 15 w/ Artemis), the ammo was protected in CASE II bins to prevent the mech losing half of its arsenal.
The speed remained the same, and also retained the ECM (albeit a lighter version).
Due to the lack of an expensive XL engine, even with the advanced technologies involved, it is a relatively cheap machine to build. And because the way the chassis is built, it is easy enough to remove the Ferro-lamellor armour and replace it with ferro-fibrous.
One variant which is based of the 4Cb, packs a clan gauss, and an SRM 6 with artemis, however the weight necessary for this means the removal of the ferro-lamellor for ferro-fibrous.
