Not sure if I am looking forward to watching this with my girls or if I am going to hate it with passion

Not sure if you Americans got the original dubbed version

Incoming fire has the right of way.

The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly fire.

Always remember that your weapon was built by the lowest bidder.

I'm getting a very "Hercules the Legendary Journey" vibe, only with slightly better CGI.

Corny ::)
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights errant, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

This looks too much like the Airbender movie for me to stomach.

They are based on the ancient Chinese fable about the Monkey King https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Wukong

The original TV series from late 70s has a bit of a cult following here in Aus, yes very corny, camp even but very funny and each story has a moral lesson for the kiddies  O0

Steven Chow directed a very entertaining adaption of the movie, which definately set it up for sequels.  There was also a Jet Li movie about the same time.  This looks way too young, hip and whitewashed for those who know the lore.
