A weapon choice question

If you was desiging a Clan Omni Config and was given the choice between the following weapon systems.  What would you choose.  And why?

A LB-20X autocannon.

OR

A Clan RAC-5

Clan RAC-5 as it can clear a jam and throw 30 points of damage in a six-round burst. It's a better hole puncher, while the LB is better as a crit seeker. I also hate the fact that the Clan version has 40% greater range than the IS version. It also out ranges LB20 by 9 hexes.

I prefer the LBX but there is a huge range disparity. The question that defines which one you want is what does the omni config need? Does it need a long ranged weapon or a short ranged weapon. The LBX gives the option of a big hole puncher or a sandblaster. The RAC only gives you the option of the sandblaster but with larger holes. Do you want No 10 shot or FF shot in your shotgun shells?

The Mech in question has two long-ish to mid range weapons, its basically going to be a sub-variant or weapons swap of the Turkina C, so the other major weapons are a pair of LPL's.

with a pair of LPL as "primary weapons" I would tend to go with the lb 20x and something like 2:1 lbx rounds vs standards. so with 3 tons of ammo I would take 2 tons of cluster 1 ton of standard ammo.
my thought is you fire the large pulse lasers as you close, which thins down and or punches holes in the armor, if the armor isn't sufficiently breached, you fire 1-2 standard rounds until you get to medium or shorter range with the 20, and then switch to cluster and finish him off with paper cuts. as you are going to typically hit with ~12 sub munitions per shot that connects.

That would work :)   And you can still obviously fire a sold shot from the LB if you need a very large hole made in someone.
