Stealthy Tigers after Hall
« on: 03 March 2017, 17:52:33 »
Just re-reading Ember of War - and it got me wondering if we ever hear any more from the Stealthy Tigers? We can presume they're eventually destroyed sometime in the Jihad.
But is there any reference to their actual destruction? By 3073, they're
Not even on Hall - the Martian currisairs have taken over Garrision for the planet.

Anyone seen any mention of their eventual fate?

It's confirmed that they were destroyed by the end of the Jihad, but no details given as to the when and where

The Stealthy Tigers that sided with the Word of Blake or the Stealthy Tigers-in-Exile that left Hall with the Dismal D's?

In my universe they actually got destroyed by the players merc unit. Survivors started up a new merc unit, merging with a few other shattered commands.

Yeah, Iron has a real point for that question.

The Blakist ones. I kinda sssumed the others either bought it with the Dismal Ds or went independent

Come to think of it. Rather a few Blakist merc just get glossed over. Canned Heat, Carson's Renagades

but the Dismal D's themselves were destroyed (the 3 regiments all dying between 67-69) in the Jihad? It's reasonably certain, everyone is either dead or unemployed in some fashion...

Yep. Two Regiments died on Terra (actually in space above Terra) and the 3rd was destroyed in 3069 trying to raid the Blakists. Burton's Brigade also died there.

But the pro-Blakist Stealthy tigers, led by the Majorca siblings stayed on Hall.

I'm curious what happens to them and a lot of the other Blakist mercs that don't get on camera deaths.

specifically - do we ever get any further info about these Tigers fighting for then Word?

I should never have clicked on this. I'm only halfway through the book now.

If I recall correctly in Total Chaos the Stealthy Tigers were supposed to be one of the mercenary units opposing the Coalition's liberation of Marcus.  I don't believe that any details were given as to whether they were destroyed, surrendered or were one of the few who were able to flee.

Really?! That's interesting. You'd imagine they were destroyed there.
Thanks for that little tidbit - I'm going to go and have a look.

I was re reading some of the field manuals, and came across this tidbit.
The FM: Lyran Alliance has them returning to Porrima in 3062 and their CO is listed as Col. Yuri Rauschenbusch.

As far as I could remember, the only WoB mercs who survived were the ones in the Rim Commonality.

Just as with the regular WoBM and MD units, there were a number of WoB-aligned mercenary units that weren't accounted for at the end of the Jihad including some mercenary units that suffered losses (sometimes heavy losses) but weren't confirmed as being completely destroyed (as opposed to simply being rendered combat ineffective).
