I'm doing it wrong?

So, for the next mission in an on-going campaign I'm going to have our group assault a fortified compound with LOTs of air, vehicle, infantry and turret emplacements.

I did a test, realizing that turrets MUST be placed on a building and doing the placement of all to-be Princess controlled enemies myself, then turning over control to Princess.

Vehicles, both ground and air worked as expected, but the turrets wouldn't do anything.  If I took control, I could use the turrets normally, but with Princess...they did nothing.  Just like Radioactive Man's goggles...

When I placed them, I didn't turn them to face the direction that their enemy was approaching thinking because they were 360' I wouldn't have to, right?

I'm using Stable 42.0 at the moment.

So do I need to upgrade to 43 to get emplacements to work or not?

I believe as of now, Princessbot doesn't know that gun emplacements use turrets and therefore doesn't ever turn them. This means they'll be in the default 'north/up' position and not fire outside of them when controlled by the bot. I don't know how Testbot handles them. If the battle isn't too big, you could try that one instead?

Princess has shot at me with her turrets in my campaign before so, I know she can use them.  Arty turrets she can not use though of course and as long as her turrets LOS are not blocked then she should be shooting at you.  You dont have double-blind on or anything funky do you?

Hammer and I did all this work on making new turrets and the icons for em they better work or that was a waste.

I tested it, your right she doesnt rotate the turret at all but will fire at you if you walk into her firing arc.  So turrets might as well be just static gun emplacements to her....which sucks.

As suggested above, try using TestBot for the turrets.
