Battlehammer AW-6R

First appearing among mercenary forces operating in the Periphery during the mid 3070s, the Battlehammer is currently the largest export of the independent world of Foxhaven, their first indigenous design, and their standard heavy battlemech. Maybe unsurprisingly, the Battlehammer is reminicent of the Cataphract, in that it was clearly derived as a hybrid of other designs (reputedly inspired by the cobbled together mech used by one of the mercenaries that fought in the world's civil war in the mid 50s). In this case, the mech essentially mates most of an archer's chassis with the right torso and arm of a Warhammer, with the armor stripped and redistributed to provide even protection. Despite the look, the result is surprisingly solid, and a capable multi-role design in a region where technology, and even battlemechs in general, are lacking.

Deployment:

The output of Foxhaven's battlemech plant is relatively low, and as such the Battlehammer is far from a common sight, even in its "home ground" of the Rimward Periphery. The mech is almost always seen either singly or in pairs, with the largest known concentration being a full lance in the hands of the pirates that control the Black Freighter.

Variants:

Foxhaven offers no advanced technology variants, leaving upgrades entirely to their clients. Multi-Missile Launchers and extended range weapons are a common upgrade, though not many pilots can afford the double heatsinks that would make improved beam weapons truly practical.

Arc Hammer WA-6R

Built in very limited numbers by the Brotherhood of Randis, the Arc Hammer can trace its lineage back to the order's lone Battlehammer. Though the Brotherhood was deeply impressed with the periphery built design and saw the value of its general flexibility, its scarcity made it hard to find, but not, strictly speaking, to emulate. Using the Warhammers already being produced in small numbers on Randis, designers turned out their own hybrid, called the Arc Hammer. The design might be thought of a photo negative of the Battlehammer (if you stretch the term to the virtual breaking point) as it uses a Warhammer as its basis and adds an Archer missile pod and arm (rather than the inverse). Like the Battlehammer, the Arc Hammer relies on a combination of a PPC and missiles for its primary weapons, though in this case the missile pack is a multi missile system supplied with generous ammunition in a CASE protected bay. For secondary weapons, the Arc Hammer inherits the left side weapon cluster from the Warhammer (though the machinegun ammunition is notably not CASE protected), as well as an arm mounted laser from the Archer. Gone is the seperate SRM pack, though the MML launcher clearly makes up for it. A better cooling system and heavier armor also gives the mech greater staying power, resulting overall in a superior combat platform despite the loss of raw long range damage capacity.

Deployment:

Roughly one out of every four to six warhammer frames constructed on Randis are ultimately assembled in the Arc Hammer configuration. The mechs are much sought after among the Order, though the demand far outstrips the supply. Arc Hammers are also occassionally gifted or sold to groups considered to be friends of the Brotherhood, with a few showing up among Calderon Protectorate and Filtvelt Coalition forces

I've long wished a Frankenmech "Arch-Hammer" would get canonized.  The peeper and LRM-20 combo is fairly unique yet effective in 3025-play, and the SRM-6 and medium laser backup is a good short-range array.

I'd like to see more franken-mechs in general. Heck, I wish we could get an XTRO of them.

Why not a Warhammer/Archer/Rifleman Franken superheavy hybrid?  Away from my books at the moment but something like 130 odd tons with twin PPC's, LRM 20's, AC/5's and Large Lasers with a bevy of mediums for back up.

Just a though... course it wouldn't be for Foxhaven but ... ya know

A truly frankenmech.  Engineers attached the arms of a Jagermech to a Warhammer.   They had to find lighter ACs and remove the SRM rack to keep the design from being overweight but that is the limit to which they exerted themselves.

Going small scale...

A rebuild of a succession wars Stinger using Wasp parts (stinger center torso, left arm, right leg, wasp head, right and left torso, right arm, left leg). Basically trades a machinegun for an SRM pack, but loses jump jets to do it. And they're lopsided jumpjets, at that! I can't imagine it'd be easy to pilot in a jump.

On the other hand, since I specified a wasp head, it wouldn't have the stinger's cramped cockpit quirk.
