Design Quirk: Anti-Aircraft Targeting, Difficult to Maintain, Non-Standard Parts
The Crocea Mors, named for Julius Ceasar's sword, was designed by a combined team of Clan Snow Raven and Outworlds Alliance engineers to meet the needs of the Raven Alliance's ground forces. Designed around one of the few 'Mech-borne weapons capable of engaging aerospace fighters while they are at high altitude, an Arrow IV.
The Crocea Mors adds to the arrow IV system a class 20 Heavy Assault Gauss that can cause problems for any aerospace forces that get to close to it. Slightly closer in, twin plasma cannons are prepared to overheat their targets causing lose of control, a possibly catastrophic event for any aerospace fighter close enough to be struck by them.
It is protected by Laser Reflective armor, chosen for defense against strafing attacks by energy weapons. The engineers also chose to make it as mobile as possible, including even the Inner Sphere designed triple strength myomer to safely boost the unit's speed.
Unfortunately, the 'Mech runs into some supply issues since the Raven Alliance doesn't have a ready supply of TSM, and the mixed technology of the unit makes it difficult for the mixed bag of technicians that might serve one.
Generally kept to a defensive role it has seen some action against the DCMS, but not very much. Due to the clan's dim view on artillery in general, it is often excluded from honorable trials against fellow clan forces.
