Standard hex/round base, I usually put 3 infantry on a base (1 per platoon)

I use plastic hex bases, and mount 4-7 conventional infantry or 1-4 BattleArmour per base.

I'm pretty variable. My preference is for standard-sized hex bases with a squads' worth of troopers on it. For motorized infantry, I'll put a handful of bike/ATV troopers on a base and call it good. I also like to pop MWDA infantry stands off of their dials and mount those on a base.

For battle armor, my preference is also a squad of troopers on a standard base.

For BA that are too large for this to be practical(basically, anything Phalanx-sized or bigger), I'll make my own hex bases out of styrene sheet(about 3/4 the size of a normal base) and out a single trooper on it. I'll do the same thing with mechanized infantry, placing a single mini of whatever I'm using for their abstract APCs on a small base.

In all cases, not matter how many figures are on a base, a single base represents a full infantry platoon or BA squad.

I pretty exclusively use MWDA infantry & BA; the kidney stands fit neatly two to a hex. Sometimes I've chopped plastic hex bases in half to mount my kitbashed BA on, for the same utility.

I use the standard metal hex bases, as I like to consistently base my whole force.

I like to base my infantry in the standard squad and platoon organization.  For IS infantry, that generally means four bases with seven figures each, for a total of 28.  For Clan Elementals, that means five bases with five figures each, for a total of 25.

There are some platoons that different organizations than this (drop infantry and IS BA are two examples) but I follow the same pattern with them.

I put my infantry on little 1/4" washers (or slightly smaller) then make a custom round magnetic base to attach them too. When they take damage, I simply remove a hit point.  ;D

And, if'n they ever get around to something battletroops-ish, I can use them individually.
