A trio of Bandersnatches
« on: 15 December 2017, 15:58:01 »
Here's a trio of 3075 era Bandersnatch designs up for thoughts, opinions, and constructive input.

All three are from a recent company-vs.-company sized Battletech game event hosted by a FLGS at our local college,  and despite their similarities each was independently designed by three different players. Original designs were encouraged to get players a feel for the game, though only a handful chose to use non-stock designs

I like the last one the best as it improves the armor the most and adds the jets to get around in broken terrain.  My issue with the Bandersnatch is it always seemed tried to do to much.  This is my design that put forward the idea of getting more modern weapons to the battlefield in a cheaper package that won't break the bank.  If you wanted a cheaper model or what would have been experimental tech replaced you simply downgrade the CASE II and Angel ECM.  I went the idea of a pocket assault with the option of murdering, gassing, or melting any non mech unit.

Interesting, but not sure about a heavy slowed down to a 3/5/3 movement rate. Seems like it might end up a quick kill that way.

There is always that possibility.  With alternate ammo loads though it is meant to make itself a nuisance in different ways.  On its own, it is certainly not all that impressive, but it delivers on getting newer tech into a cheaper package with survivable (no XL) leading the charge.

Here are a few of my takes from years past. The first two are intended for the WoB Protectorate forces, one with dual RACs for line breaking, the other acts more as a trooper with more flexibility - Sasquatch and Yeti

The third one is a bit of amalgam of the previous two fluffed as the Republics re-purposing of the WoB lines - BNDR-02B Bandersnatch.

I later also pulled together a RAF version of the Sasquatch that drops the C3i for an extra heat sink and supercharger - BNDR-03R Bandersnatch

Cheers,
LCC

I had considered almost identical 02B until I tossed it aside because it was to much like a Falconer.  I'm not a big fan of RAC boats, but that's a pretty decent build with the light engine.
