Emoticons Displaying Differently...
« on: 27 November 2017, 20:47:03 »
It appears that some of us are seeing a different set of emoticons (smilies) than others.  ColBosch and Sharpnel report they see the old "thumps up" emoticon for this character combination: O0

Truetanker and I are seeing an afro with sunglasses.  So far, Sharpnel reports they're using Windows 8.1 with Google (Chrome), while I'm using Windows 10 with Edge.  Anyone else?

Liam's Ghost suggests the emoticons I'm seeing are due to using a faction theme vice "BattleTech 2.0".  I'm using the "Steel" skin, and don't see where I might select a non-faction theme...

profile > account settings > modify profile > look and layout > current theme > change

I have changed to the 2.0 theme and I get a thumbs-up now, in fact all the standard emoticons pre-crash and none of that annoying, oversized homer drool pic. So here I am.

Verified. Switching to the default theme changes many of the emoticons and hides quite a few as well. And what is up with that giant Homer Simpson?

Edit: If you're seeing this as Homer, it has to go: [drool]

That did the trick, thanks Kidd! O0

EDIT: Darn it... I think I now remember why I was using the other theme... where's the "View New Replies" button in 2.0?

Awesome, thanks!  Now I just have to adjust to losing some screen real estate when I want to read replies, at least until they get this whole thing straightened out...
