TV Series Dark Matter's "Empire of Zairon"

So, has anyone on this board ever watched this show? For those wo haven't I can warmly recommend it, it has everything a good Sci Fi series needs.
But there's one thing in particular, which is the reason I asking on this board, and not on some other.

The Principality/Empire of Zairon.

Does anyone else have the impression that the makers of Dark Matter got their inspiration for this nation from Battletech's Draconis Combine? Because it is almost exactly how the Combine is described, ruled by a royal House with a long dynasty, inspired by the clichee of Samurai Japan's culture regarding honor/Bushido over everything and, importantly, including people of all colors serving as soldiers, "Samurai", even Admirals and high members of the government.

If there ever were to be a Battletech TV Series or movie, the Empire of Zairon is exactly how the Combine should be portrayed.

I really liked this show. Too bad that it is not getting another season to bring full closure to the series. And, yes, Zairon reminds a little bit of the Combine.
