Has To Be A Better Way To Find Planet Data
« on: 31 January 2018, 10:11:51 »
So, every now and then we come across an error in MekHQ and may have to fix one of the 3,000+ planets faction change data.  The problem is sarna is not 100% accurate and I'm hoping there must be a better way to go about finding the information for a planet without having to read through every era report, handbook, and house book to get every faction change event to update our planets.xml with.  Is there some kind of index or something that would list every book that mentions this or that planet?  There just has to be better way to do this.

The planet is question right now is Adherlwin who was occupied by the Star League in 2583 according to Historical:  Reunification War.  But on Sarna no end date for the SL occupation is given but, Jayof9s found in Era Report: 2750 that all those Periphery states would go back to their respective faction's control in 2597.  If i had tried to read through every source book I may have missed that so, there's got to be a better way to do this.

###Note:  This is for my VB.NET PlanetXML app using the Campaign Operations system generation rules to make a random planets.xml http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=59106.msg1366133#new hard to do this without consolidated data on every planet that has suffered an extinction event, when they built an HPG or recharge station, and then when the planet changed hands with one faction or the other.  There isn't a practical way of finding this stuff for 3,500+ planets it's impossible. https://github.com/BLOODWOLF333/PlanetsXML
