'Mechs running through water.
« on: 02 June 2017, 15:04:00 »
I know that a 'mech cannot enter water whilst running, and that a 'mech can exit water whilst running; however, may a 'mech that starts its movement in water, finishes its movement in water, and never exists the water, run if said 'mech is moving foreword?

No unit except hover, VTOL, WiGE and naval vessels can enter Depth 1 or deeper water hexes while running/flanking

You can't enter a depth 1 water or deeper water hex while running, whether from a non-water hex or from another water hex.

Thank you. I was confused by the ability to run if leaving a water hex. After all, if I leave a level 2 water hex to enter another level two water hex, I have still left a water hex. The said ability must only refer to leaving water completely.

yeah, you can only run out of water onto dry land (or a level 0 water hex).

There is one way you can run while ending your move in water: if you're only making facing changes within a single hex.  The rule is that you can't enter a water hex while running; just changing your facing doesn't violate that.

The above works as well for sealed tanks that operates in space, but the rule was made for the Annihilator and other slow mechs with a speedster of 2/3! ;D

If I do this with a Fireball XF can I create a whirlpool?

One more way, skidding. Although that one is a little hard to pull off intentionally.

Well, you could skid across ice and fall in.   I seen mech make the turn on a road. This was a Fireball, failed skid check.  We joked that it the mech skipped water like skipping a flat rock across the water. Then got hulled slipping under waves as it crashed into the rock wall on other side of river.

The flash fire already has the spiky bits too like classic iceman, and a pair of fluid guns.
