(Answered) Scanning help
« on: 27 July 2012, 14:07:38 »
I've looked through my strategic ops book, all the quick-strike rules, the introductory ruleset, sword and dragon and can't find how to scan. Scenarios say, Scan and get out but I'm not sure how.

Also, in sword and dragon it says you must be within 4 hexes to scan - but I'm using Quickstrike modified for hexes - any thoughts on if I should adjust the ranges?

Our apologies, this ended up in errata as it was missed in the previous Chaos Campaign and Warchest rules. it has since been officially published in Total Chaos. This book is useful even to the non-Jiahd player, as it has the complete and up to date Campaign Track/War Chest rules.

The Scanning Rule is as follows:
Quote
Scanning
Any unit (except infantry) in a force may attempt a detailed
scan on any turn that it ends its Movement phase within 3 hexes
of an opposing unit or building (5 if the Attacker unit is equipped
with any equipment with “probe” in the title or equipment
description). Scanning is successful if the unit spends two complete
turns within range of the target. The unit attempting the
action may not fire any weapons or make physical attacks during
the time it takes to complete a scan; units equipped with a probe
ignore this limitation. Line of sight is not required.

And to answer the question I've already gotten internally. No the two turns do not have to be consecutive.
