$7 per in Brisbane Aldi too!  Picked up a couple and boy, what a job putting them together!  Not hard, just... time consuming.  Nice though...

Still quite a few left for Aussie and Brisbane players if you can't get one where ever you are...

You have just opened my eyes for 3D puzzles.

This is terrific. Especially given quality to price ratio.

Just replace all those planes with mechbusters, rapiers, and slayers. Maybe a few VTOLs, and it will be truly bad ass!!!!!!!!

That is so.  Freaking.  COOL!!!   ;D

What a great "battlefield" to build a unique scenario around.  I'm going to have to keep my own eyes open for something like this.

Yeah, build part of a port around it and imagine the scenario of some attackers fighting their way to the carrier escorting APCs with marines and naval crew.  Capture the carrier and put to sea before defenders can respond.  How blurry do the goggles have to be to make it a Luftenburg?  Hmm, quite a bit it seems . . .

Looking at just pictures I see some that are also destroyers . . . lots of options.

Awesome find mate, I did not see that in the Aldi catalogue. I will have to see if I can find one here in Canberra.

I assume that is AU$7 which would make it US$5.70 for all our American friends  :)

Check the date - I got this in 2012 :) Reference to a kit Osaka Castle resulted in the thread necromancy.

Once this month's pay goes through, I'm picking up a 1.5'x2.5' kit by the same manufacturer, of St Peter's Square & Basilica. Perfect terrain for an Amaris Civil War game, no? :D

:-[ That does decrease my ability to find a Nimitz in Aldi this weekend when I go to pick up a couple of the special buys from this week's catalogue but does not decrease the awesomeness of the 3D puzzles :)

Yes, I remember seeing that St Pete's Square & Basilica in another Aldi catalogue and have never made the connection to using them as terrain for tabletop Battletech :-[ must be old age catching up with me.

Well, np aircraft carrier around here but this is my first find, just put together for fun (no gluing or detailing yet).

Larger mech is CBT scale, un-armed MadCat is Battleforce scale which this building is closer to (without changes).

It is sci-fi enough to make it a generic office building, not Earth landmark only.

Honestly, not sure the scale will matter . . . looks good and would definitely be some interesting terrain for the background of a battle.

Looking good!

THere seem to be two scales in the buildings out there - the more expensive sets at 1:300 roughly, and smaller, less expensive ones at 1:700 or thereabouts. This would be from the latter. Great way to build up some great looking objectives!

Nice to see this float up - I'll be posting some more pics this week. Got a ZIM container ship built, and about 80% done on the 1:300 St Peters Basilica, which is going to look magnificent. Pics to follow.

One thing to throw in here . . . Dropzone Commander, which has been discussed for armor options in other threads has a PDF where you can print out building facades to make cities- has anyone done that?  Might be another way to grow the 'buildings' offered.

Worktroll, looking forward to seeing the pics.

I did not know there is a larger BurjAlArab. I saw this trend You mentioned for Burh Khalifq - in 1/300  it will be over 1,5m high, good central landmark of a major IS city...

I will keep looking.

As for aircraft carriers, if Nimitz is too obvious, Admiral Kuznetsov (Kiev class) or Charles deGqulle can look more like floating VTOL platforms. Actually this is what Russian carriers are, with helos and VTOL Jak-38 fighters.

Colt Ward, I have printed some DC buildings in CBT scale but wanted to superdetail them first. The idea of these buildings is that they are built from standardized facade elements, just like their 3D line. It just cries to make it 3D via superdetailing.

Cool, I just figured they would fit in with the topic and they were the only thing I knew that was available en masse.

Just remember to scale them down a bit. I believe Dropzone Commander is in N-scale (10mm is precisely 1:161) so printing at about 55 - 60% of original size would be OK (I know the real ratio should be closer to 53-55% but it worked for me better).

"Cubic Fun" seems to be the proper search words on eBay. Tons of models, at very decent prices, and they seem to be pretty high-quality.
