[Non-BT] EDSF Cruiser Takao

This is a plastic model kit from Japan, actually. One of a line of fairly cheap, easy-to-build kits based around the very popular anime, Space Battleship Yamato 2199. This is the Earth Defense Force heavy cruiser, Murasame-class, of which none survive the first episode of the series.

Japanese-built EDF ships tend to have a 'dazzle' pattern in a mix of red, grey, white, and yellow, different for each ship. Thus the scheme I've used for this one.

Very nice and, honestly, wouldn't look out of place on a Battletech table. Well, except for size, I'd imagine.

Compared to the 3057 Aegis mini as an example of a cruiser, it's practically tiny.  O:-)

I've built the ships from the set, love the detailing very much so!  I did mine in more of the traditional ship colors, grey and red trim since I really dislike the red yellow dazzle.

Cool. Did you build the Mecha Colle kits, or the 1/1000 kits? I have a (huge, massively detailed) 1/1000 Yamato yet to build...

MechaColle.  I can't afford the larger ones and that would compete with my other hobbies.  :)

Yeah. And I can afford multiples of the MechaColle. I'm just irked at the non-scale-ness of them.

At 110mm, the 205m battleship turns out to be 1/1850
The 102mm Cruiser ('live' length 150m) is 1/1470
And the 80m destroyer at the same 110mm as the battleship is 1/730.

I'm glad they are available at least, I did build some of the 1/700 scaled ships, the missile cruiser, a heavy smite type cruiser and a Yamato that I modded with parts from a Hasegawa Yamato, to give it a more symmetrical weapons load out on the bottom hull.

Lucky for you they're pretty cheap.
