Luzerne 3059 Naval Battle
« on: 15 December 2017, 01:02:06 »
Hello All,

I was just recently rereading Dragon Roars while looking up some data & came across the Naval scenario again.

I'm curious, has anyone out there run the naval battle before?

More importantly, if you have, what sort of results did you get?

The IS has 1 WarShip, 9 DropShips, & 46 ASF v/s the Jags with 2 WS, 4 DS, & 30 ASF.

The IS has the Numbers in smaller craft but I'm sure clan tech more than evens that out.

Did your results match the historical fight?
Was it even worse & the IS is vaporized?
Were you able to get most the transport DS's past the clan line?

Assuming you meant the DCS Shiro, her crew and either a Star Lord or add a pair of Invaders.

Yes, I have played this, but back in the Battlespace era. Not recently...but I might run a more historical one soon. I'll post the units in the off topic later this week or so, with a linky here for all to follow.

No,  the Shiro was lost elsewhere.

This is the scenario with the Comstar SovSoy v/s the Jag Congress+Lola with both sides having a bunch of DS/ASF as well.

The IS side is moving troops towards the planet with the WS & some attack droppers & wings of fighters as escorts to clear a path.

I gamed it out in Alpha Strike using the Abstract Space Combat system.  In my outcome, the fighters on each side ended up in two separate furballs and pretty much were inconsequential to the tactical outcome.  The larger ComStar vessel proved to be too many eggs in one basket.  It killed one of the Clan WarShips but didn't get them both before it went down.  IIRC it was a tactical Clan victory on the face of it but the scenario rules prioritized Clan survival over destruction of IS ships.. the scenario rules said the Jags lost on account of how much destruction they suffered.

Oh, that one...

We now have better examples of the what is in current resources that has recently been expanded in the last few years.

Like how Comstar had Royals, Clanbusters and the Helm- rushed developed upgrades, while the Jaqs. had their Omni and possible Secondline attack fighters. Did you considered the usage of the Miraborg vs. Carrier? Or did you went straight Titan-C? Have you considered the possible usage of an Elephant-96 dropper ( Standard 2600 or 2755 Star League ) for either force?

No,  I have not run it.

I was asking if anyone has run that particular aero scenario & if so, what was the outcome.

Sorry HR,

I was commenting on the Shiro and how the "in game" aero fleet has been retconed to include more viable units, other than those from '97.
