(Answered) Firing when docked in a repair bay

Quote from: Strat Ops pg 291
Attacking While Docked:

A docked Element may engage most targets as normal. It is assumed to have the same facing as the largest Element involved in the docking operation. However, it may not use the arc corresponding to the facing that is docked.

Attacking a Docked Element

Attacks against a group of Elements engaged in docking operations (or successfully docked) must target the largest (use Total Warfare stats to determine mass) of the Elements involved. Roll 1D6 for each attacking Element after attacks are declared, but before shots are resolved. If the result is a 1, resolve the attacking Element’s shots against a randomly determined docked Element (other than the largest Element).

Quote from:  Tac Ops pg 335
Game Rules: Standard Naval Repair Facilities may accommodate up to 1 JumpShip, Space Station or WarShip; 2 DropShips; [or any number of satellites, Small Craft or fighters (so long as the total weight of the stored unit does not exceed the repair bay’s maximum rated capacity in tons) (errata'd out)].

Quote from:  Tac Ops pg 335
Repair facilities have no direct effect during combat, but they provide a number of benefits during repair and salvage operations, which are covered in Strategic Operations. Facilities can accommodate docked aerospace units with a combined weight up to the facilities’ maximum capacity and can be pressurized or unpressurized. Pressurized facilities allow personnel to work without the encumbrance of bulky life support gear.

My question is, units in a repair bay count as docked, and can therefore shoot out of it, right? This picture of a Newgrange seems to support the text, as it can fire from it's front, left, and right arcs, but is obstructed in it's rear arc.*

Although, I assume it goes without saying that a pressurized bay is excluded? You would automatically pop the bubble, so to speak.

* And that's just a SMALL ship. The Newgrange can fit another one of ITSELF in that repair bay.

The rules you reference on p.291 of SO are for BattleForce only.

And they concern vehicles that are docked per the rules on p.277, which refer to p.66 of the same book.
Which very clearly cover vehicles that are docked using a docking collar, no other mechanisms.

Further, all repair bays, pressurized or otherwise, are fully enclosed and have a door assigned to them. Under normal circumstances, having vessels that are docked with a repair bay fire out is not physically possible without causing damage.

So, no, what you're suggesting is impossible.

Non-pressurized bays are fully enclosed?

So the picture above is completely inaccurate? Because a Newgrange can fit another Newgrange in it's repair bay IIRC, and those tiny doors would not be able to cover it.

Well yes, but you are suggesting a very, very radical design to be able to enclose a 2.3 megaton ship.
