And by splitting them off you excised the context of the discussion. If I wanted to submit fan designs, I would've done so. Someone had a question about it so I provided examples of how you can use the rules to represent what they're aiming for. I'd have rather you just delete the posts rather than push it off to the design forum where it will sit abandoned.

I think a lot more people go to the design forums than you think.

Well hell.

I completely agree with you, but apparent things here are black and white with no acceptable margin of grey allowed at all. Apparently if you make an example to answer a question, you need to jump through hoops and make links and such rather than simply post an example.

Makes one cautious about even bothering to ask questions, since getting an answer that isn't brusquely black and white could lead to issues with a moderator.

You want to show people how something can be designed, without showing a design? ???

Makes as much sense as anything can given the restrictions, since a moderator will take action if you USE a design to show HOW something can be designed.

And of all things WHY shift this to Combat Vehicles, since the question was about standard I.S. combat unit sizes and not vehicles?

There is nothing wrong with using a design to show how things can be designed. Just remember that fan designs go in Fan Designs. A very simple rule, extremely easy to follow.

This rule is actually for Catalyst's protection. The developers do NOT go into Fan Designs/Rules/Etc, and this way they avoid the kind of grief that comes when a TRO comes out and a unit coincidentally matches or bears a strong resemblance to a fan design posted in that section, and said fan demands credit or recompense.

Don't laugh, this has happened, and you can thank those bad apples for ruining things for everyone else.

The issue with that is I do not think many people like to make two posts in separate areas just to get a concept across, it's just far to clunky.

What I believe he's looking for is how do you get a unit idea across with out actually posting a unit up...

Some ideas require more work to get across than others. It happens. If expressing an idea in accordance with forum rules requires more posts than a user is willing to make, then please consider the idea that some posts simply may not have been meant to be.
