Alright folks, I have to communicate with B-3 first to make sure I fully understand the PayPal portion of this.  Once I hear back from him I will send PM's to each of you with my info and announce in this thread that I have done so.  I ask that from this point forward please keep all replies to this thread to a minimum, and on the topic of the APC funding.  The only members who need to be posting are those who have pledged, are doing the sculpting, or are running Fan Financing.  I have a day job and work long hours so I would like to make this as easy for myself as possible.  Financiers, please be patient with me.  I will do my level best to reply to any questions once per day, after work.  Thank you!

This is what I have down for financiers and funds:
$200   klarg1
$200   ]mike19k
$200   jymset
$100   Cache
$ 50   TS_Hawk
$100   Fletch
$ 20   beachhead1985
$ 30   Maingunnery
$ 50   The Wayfarer
$ 50   Heavyguard

Behrle, the one question I have is - can we get you to go really small, tiny and cute with these? And to channel as much of Aliens as possible for the wheeled APC and as steampunk-ey as all heck for the tracked one? O:-)

I have to confess, I was king of hoping this would come out a little oversized for 10-ton vehicles, so they'd look like 7 guys would fit inside. (Normally, I'd be right there with you on the tiny size.)

The notion of 28 troopers cramming into the old Maxim model is a little... improbable.

Oh well. I'm sure I'll be happy with the result.

...but but but... if the Wheeled APC wants to stay true to its Aliens roots, it cannot possibly be in scale with a trooper :))

I'd like to see them between a Savannah Master and Blizzard. Probably a little closer to the Savannah Master.  I'll use them for Mechanized Infantry and want to fit two on a base.

Give me dimensions and I'll get going.

I don't have the miniatures handy to measure, but I think cache is suggesting something around 18-20mm in length, while I am suggesting more like 25-27.

I'll try to actually measure some existing minis and post better numbers by tomorrow, if nobody beats me to it.

I'll go ahead with drawings, I can easily re-size them when dimensions are agreed on.  If anyone wants to contribute drawings they will help speed this process.

Paid.

And forget scale B-3. make em a bit smaller than the heavy APCs so we can get at least a Platoon's worth (4) in a pack. otherwise they'll be almost as big as a manticore.

I don't have the miniatures handy to measure, but I think cache is suggesting something around 18-20mm in length, while I am suggesting more like 25-27.
One thing to remember is that once the money is paid to B-3, this is going to the QCC where they will decide on the dimensions.  I'm posting my opinion with as much data as I can to justify it.  Whether or not they listen is up to them.

That being said...

The 5 ton Savannah Master is 7mm wide x 12mm long.
The 20 ton Blizzard (with 6 tons of cargo space for up to 56 troopers) is 15mm wide x 25mm long without the spoiler.

I think 25-27mm long is way out of the ballpark.  I don't think we should be looking to set a new scale standard with these.  They should fit with existing vehicles.  If the largest Maxim infantry variant (crew + 81 troopers) were sized properly it would be almost the size of the Leviathan warship.  That just doesn't work.

You don't need to add a lot of size just to get 7 troopers on board.  Take the real-world M1117 Guardian for example: It's listed at 3 crew and 1 passenger with an APC variant having 3 crew and 8 troopers.  The standard length (according to the wikipedia) is 237 inches and the APC variant adds 24 inches to the length for the addition of 7 troops.  That's only a 10% increase.  The percentage size increase for larger numbers of troopers grows considerably.

I'm suggesting the wheeled and tracked APCs should be 12mm wide x 16mm long and the hover APC should be 13mm wide x 16mm long.  Also, B-3, I have high resolution images of each of the APCs taken out of TRO: 3039 that I can email to you.  They're too big to post.

Sounds like I guessed high on the size of a savannah master, although I was basing it on your earlier suggestion that the end result come out between it and the blizzard.

I'd agree that 25 is too high based on that, although B-3's original guess of 20 or 21 might be in line with modern sculpts. (Width will depend on B-3's interpretation of the proportions suggested by the art.)

I'll wait and see how the QC thread comes out.

I'm suggesting the wheeled and tracked APCs should be 12mm wide x 16mm long and the hover APC should be 13mm wide x 16mm long.
Good suggestion.

ps. The wheeled variant has appeared in MW3. Soon I will have the minis to properly re-enact the game....

Sounds like wheeled and tracked APCs 12mm wide x 16mm long and the hover APC 13mm wide x 16mm long are good size(s) for these three.  I think I have the book that has these in it but thanks for the offer.  If I can get any more art and/or screen shots from MW3 of these it will really help solidify the designs.

Typical. I get cash in hand, and the minis I would fund are funded.  I feel like Magnum did I that episode where he won the trip for four to Hawaii.
