(Disclaimer the first, I checked the math best I can, but this was made with MegaMek's new lab build, so please correct me if numbers are wrong.)
(Disclaimer the second, yes my fluff text is weak. I've always loved the titan, the recent reading of the article on the Gorgon Carrier made me want to revisit the old bucket)
(Disclaimer the third, if people like it, I'll post a monitor version)
"One dropship detected, deploying fighters for screening, Overlords will continue on to target." - Last transmission from the LCAF Wartburg, 3090
As the Terran Supremacy helped build up the Rim Federation with Surplus, a number of Titans joined the fledgling military. In 3090 something changed, new Titans, with new technology, started appearing in both the RWF and TS.
Overview:
The new titans still have their compliment of 18 fighters, but everything else have been upgraded. The heat exchangers have been replaced with double heat sinks, allowing the new Titans to fire all their weapons comfortably. The weapons have been upgraded as well. Gone is the bank of large lasers that gave the Titan its biggest punch, in their place is a bank of 6 heavy PPCs, providing comparable damage and freeing up tonnage previously spent on fire control. The autocannons were also replaced with LBX versions while the remaining large and medium lasers are now ER versions. The Missile launchers were also upgraded with Artemis IV technology. For defense a trio of point defense bays were added, one in each wing and one aft mounted. These enhancements give the Titan increased range capability, at a slight cost of damage. Armor was increased to the maximum possible, with using Ferro Aluminium to enhance protection further.
The interior of the ship was updated as well. The CAG now benefits from a naval comm-scanner suite, giving him more detailed information of the combat. Fuel capacity was increased slightly, and facilities improved for the crew.
All these improvements come with a cost. The Titan refit is approximately 5 times the cost of the original Titan, limiting its deployment and construction. The RWF Sheridan is the most well known of the new design, having been attached to a LF equipped Jumpship for pirate hunting and patrolling jump points.
