Sort of actually.

There isn't actually a separate AC for Caseless ammunition but if you use Caseless ammunition you can't use any other type of ammunition.

Which basically amounts to the same thing as there being a separate AC for Caseless but you'll never see it as an option in the books or any of the designers.

What about LAMs? We know the Stinger was still in production in the original timeline...

My thought is that they're sorta a gray area. Technically lostech, but just common enough to still be considered available.

So I'm not gonna lose any sleep about including them.

Ok. I don't know why, but I was under the impression caseless AC ammo simply allowed a standard AC (granted, I used Light ACs) to double its ammunition count at the risk of exploding the weapon on a 2.  Didn't realize they were actually supposed to be a separate weapon.  Easy enough to just make all the caseless ammo sets standard, then.

As Monbvol says, available to every autocannon, but an autocannon using caseless ammo can't also use other types of ammo.

I believe the intent though is that it's just supposed to limit that one autocannon, so if you have other autocannons, they can fire other types of ammunition types as long as they don't use caseless ammo.

To make matters worse, I don't think that Precision, Flechette or AP AC ammo are actually allowed in this AU. I'm pretty sure they're all E rated.

Correct.
Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

Try this again, and try not to violate either BT or AU norms here...I tried a Centurion with a Mech Turret earlier, not realizing those are for quads...

Some Wolverine-Cs still exist around the Inner Sphere.  The precursor to the more modern Wolverine-R, this one simply sports a Heavy Rifle Cannon (and one less heat sink) in place of the AC/5.  While comparable in damage to the AC/5 even considering it's a rifle, the cannon was replaced because it requires so much space for the ammunition and is hotter than the AC as well.  Still, in the event of a destroyed AC/5, Rifle Cannons are a common replacement when autocannons are in short supply.

Love those LAMs Gio! O0

On the Annihilator, I applaud the concept, but do the crits actually fit on that first one?  It looks awfully close to my eye...

Unfortunately, you are incorrect....here is an example of a Caseless aremed mech

You could, however, have Light ACs that are dedicated to caseless ammo, yes?  Since Lights can use the same ammo standard ACs can use?

So it's a matter of whether you want shot count or flak/tracer/what-have-you.

Oh, and I dub the BJ-1DCC the Flakjack.

Love those LAMs Gio! O0

On the Annihilator, I applaud the concept, but do the crits actually fit on that first one?  It looks awfully close to my eye...

As long as you forego lower arm actuators, which means you can flip arms, then, yes, yes it does.  >:D

Now for the undisputed King and Champion of Bad IdeasTM I present what I have decided to dub as the Oh YEAAAAHHH!!! Slightly more seriously, a handheld RL-10 Derringer could do some serious damage on an 80 ton mech...  >:D

what rules have changed?  Haven't seen any errata on this

Caseless has become a ammo type.
From pg 106 of the BattleMech Manual:
Quote
Game Rules: On an attack roll result of 2, the ammo feed breaks
down: the weapon is useless for the rest of the scenario. In addition,
the shot automatically misses and the controlling player must
immediately roll once on the Determining Critical Hits Table (see
p. 46), applying all critical hits to the affected autocannon (starting
with the uppermost undamaged slot). This is not an ammunition
explosion, and MechWarrior damage does not occur as a result.
A weapon using caseless ammo can use no other special
munition types.
Ammunition Multiplier: x2
Technology Base: Clan or Inner Sphere
Usable By: AC, LAC

Does that clear things up?

EDIT: Though I think the writers forgot to add the PAC to the usable list...

In an effort to solve the Javelin's problems of top-heaviness, Capellan engineers removed one SRM pack and replaced the holes with 6 lasers - 2 medium, 4 small.  They also went with the lighter commercial armor, which allowed them to insert a supercharger.

While none of these changes solved the problem of the unbalanced Javelin, the resulting JVN-10C was still considered useful enough to see a fair number of them converted as such.

How about this for the Rifleman?

Drop the engine to a 180 fusion (walk MPs: 3, run MPs: 5)
Drop all weapons but one large laser; move it to the CT.
Add 2 Light AC/5's to each arm (4 total). Add 3 tons of LAC ammo to each side torso (I believe flak ammo should still be able to be used, so at least one ton in each side would be for that...my preferred mix for the rest would be 1 ton each of standard and AP, but AP isn't allowed in this AU).
Use the remaining tonnage to upgrade the armor to 11 tons, so 20 points per armor and front side torso, upgrade the legs to 17 points each, 30 in the front CT, each rear torso gets 8 points and finally, add 2 points to the head for 8 points total.

On the Daikyu, instead of ceaseless ammo, what about either dropping the medium laser or swapping the PPC for a large laser, and adding in a ton of flak ammo. Suddenly, you have a wicked anti-air platform.

On the Javelin, I find myself wanting an MML.
