Interstellar Operations... When?
« on: 12 February 2011, 16:44:03 »
Hello,

Does anybody knows when will be out of print Interstellar Operations? Is the project still alive?
Any new?

The last mention of it was in a BattleChat late last year, when Herb said that Interstellar Operations was in development, while the Universe Book was teetering on the brink of cancellation.  ('Waiting for me to axe it.")
"We have made of New Avalon a towering funeral pyre and wiped the Davion scourge from the universe.  Tikonov, Chesterton and Andurien are ours once more, and the cheers of the Capellan people nearly drown out the gnashing of our foes' teeth as they throw down their weapons in despair.  Now I am made First Lord of the Star League, and all shall bow down to me and pay homa...oooooo! Shiny thing!" - Maximillian Liao, "My Triumph", audio dictation, 3030.  Unpublished.

Universal Ops?

Seriously though I think IO should be a much higher priority

Actually, if we just dial "0," we should be able to get some Phone Ops in a matter of minutes.

Our calls, however, may be recorded to assure quality customer service.

Yes, but are its pages white, or yellow?

And if you dial 2 on the HPG, does your message automatically transmit in Spanish?

Your message could not be delivered, please hang up and try again. You will still be billed for the attempt though.  Thank you for using WoB for all your HPG needs.

Dang.

Okay. Time to switch back to Interstellar Ops, and then hope I can get better service with Galactic Ops.

From what I remember from the Saturday morning chat, the book is "going apace as core books do" My inference is that it is taking as long as it needs to get it right and that means that is behind schedule. However long that may be

As well it should.  Randall basically described 2-3 separate game systems in each "zooming out"; game systems that need to be tested, tweaked, and revised like any single game systems.  I think this one's going to be a real bear and the cause of great exhaustion by authors and playtesters.
Alas poor Photobucket. I knew him Horatio, a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy.

I'm always obliged to agree with anyone named Stormcrow.

;)

That said, I think this is the best way to do things, and it has worked for others in other situations.

Intersteller Ops needs to be done right and I expect it will take a long time.

Which makes me a sad camper in a way, because both it and Jihad Final Reckoning probably won't be out for some time...

But OTH, better right than soon.  I won't, I don't think, Die waiting for it, after all.

I think I am most looking forward to the new design rules, particularly the make-your-own planet rules, but also the stuff that is implied in Jihad: final reckoning.
