Knight Heavy Battle Armor (IS)
« on: 25 August 2017, 01:16:32 »
A type of heavy Inner Sphere battle armor first seen in action around 3075 with the Black Knights mercenary unit.

Equipped with an improved range small laser and a Rocket Launcher 5 as a compromise between the heavier LRM-5 and the lighter but less range effective SRM-2. Additionally, a Federated-Barrett M61A is fitted into a forearm anti-personnel mount in the left arm.

I don't have any suggestions for improvement. It's a simple, but solid design, with what looks like easy logistics.

What made you decide to go with a heavy suit over a medium or assault, for a mercenary unit?

A combination of things. What I wanted to mount on it was too space consuming for a medium, and I wanted it to jump so an assault wouldn't have worked.

Only thing off is that it shouldn't have swarm or leg attack, being a heavy suit.

It always does, even on assault suits.

It's adjusted accordingly now. :)

I'm a big  :) fan of MML, and I just assumed that as well done as that program is that those kinds of details were taken into account. Apparently not, it seems.  :(

I've used the Knight BA a couple of times now in for fun skirmish games over the weekends, and it seems to work well. I get the one-shot "LRM-like" effect from the rockets, without the extra weight and with a playable minimal loss in range. Works well enough to irritate an enemy at a reasonable range, and then fade away and use the laser in group attacks later. Jump isn't great, but it certainly comes in handy at times. Good for screwing with enemy infantry too.
