Yesterday was the local annual IPMS show, with associated swap-meet & sale. There, I picked up a lovely 1:400 snap-tite kit (brand: "4D Master") of space shuttle & crawler. The shuttle might well come in handy down the track (if I do end up kitbashing the Michael from "Footfall"), but the crawler is ... just right! O0
The Rattler Mk III - "sports version", as it was ironically nicknamed - was rushed into the defence of Cairo by Light of Mankind units in the desperate last days of the Jihad. Comparatively lightly armed, and about two-thirds of the weight of the better-feared Mk II, the two completed units took a dreadful toll of attackers, until finally obliterated by massed ortillery.
We have here a rare photo of an unequipped Rattler Mk III being moved to armoury for final fitout:
And remains of an unassembled Mk III, abandoned outside the underground manufactury.
So basically, a bit of fun! Will think how I'm going to paint it - either LoM colours, or dark grey with some black wash, grey drybrushing, & metallic wear.
The plastic is well-made, well-detailed, and nice and hard. It comes with the tracks, and the shuttle (which I haven't assembled) pre-painted. They're available on Amazon & no doubt other places at good prices. For the WoB fanatic, or for anyone with a taste for
outre vehicles, not to be missed!
Cheers,
W.
