Yeash. Such great news going on about major franchises i adore that are scifi.
I hope Blade Runner 2049 works out better.
I find the news about the Han Solo movie encouraging.
It means that there's a dedicated editorial
vision, a conscious decision about what Star Wars is and is not, and that someone is actually
thinking about these things instead of just holding out both hands for as much licensing cash as can be poured into them.
Compare that to the old EU, where any old junk would get accepted and published - Han Solo marries Leia via Stockholm syndrome? Luke loses his Force power and joins a cult? Mandolorians are, like, totally way better than those poopyhead Jedi? Palpatine was really trying to protect the galaxy from even more evil aliens that were immune to the Force? - it's a great thing.
That's what all these reshoots actually mean - the semi-finished product breaks with the vision in some way, and so it has to be corrected.
I personally would have liked a silly comedy-style movie in the universe as well, especially considering that the Han/Chewie pairing already generated a lot more of the actual
good comedy moments of the original trilogy, but I'm not the person with the vision. Considering some of the stuff that's been kept in Rebels, I'd reckon that a fair few of those scenes WILL make it into the final product, but it'll be tied together differently.
