Designed for an quasi-star wars AU in which most ground combat is between infantry and battle armor rather than mechs and vehicles. This is a nod to
Star Wars' AT-TE, though not a conversion of it by any means. Intended as an infantry support platform.

I wanted it to be more mobile than most infantry. with TSM it can really get going. It has electronics to do a wide array of functions that infantry can't do itself as easily, like ghost targets, ECCM, etc. It also uses a pair of RISC APDS to defend against missile attacks, even ones not directly targeting the infantry. A Flamer gives some anti-infantry power, and some utility it it's ability to light fires, while a quartet of micro pulse lasers add further anti-infantry power.
A HAG-20 is the main weapon on the Tripod, able to engage infantry and battle armor at long ranges, act as AA, and generally just give a long range punch that infantry might lack. I strongly considered MMLs instead, and if a variant of this exists that is surely what it has, as missiles, and their accompanying versatility, are excellent at basically everything the HAG can do (except maybe AA), however the Gauss weapon is a nod to the original AT-TE's main weapon, which was a magnetic accelerator style weapon of some kind.
Maximum armor, the Null Signature System, and Chameleon LPS give it further defenses from BBS (Big Boss Syndrome) where it becomes the main target of everyone and their dog on it's native battlefields. Overall, I think battle armor and infantry operating within it's umbrella are going to be pretty secure in their places as long as this monster is still standing.
