over the years, both these 2 iconic action stars have had oodles of great films, and some not so great ones..
So as we've not had a good poll in a while, i figured i would start this one..
You can pick 2 films for each actor.
It's not who you kill, but how they die!
You can't shoot what you can't see.
You can not dodge it if you don't know it's coming.

I'm sorry, I couldn't pick a Sly film. So I voted for Commando,Predator, & The Running Man.

I don't like Sly all that much (especially 80's Sly), but I did like Tango and Cash...otherwise, I went Conan the Barbarian, Terminator and Predator...

From Sly I only picked First Blood as it's only one from his movies that I like. In other hand from Arnie I picked three: Conan the Barbarian, Terminator and Predator. I find weird that I didn't see Total Recall on list.

Star Captain Johannes Bekker, Delta Galaxy, Clan Ghost Bear

Because Arnie's Total Recall was released in 1990.

The 1980s had some utterly awesome sci-fi movies that haven't entirely been surpassed (IMO), and Arnie appeared in several of them. Terminator, Predator, Aliens, Blade Runner, Running Man, Total Recall (if you define 80s as 81-90) - the hits just kept rolling out in the 1980s, then the 1990s were sort of a vacuum in the sci-fi field.

From the list with Arnie in it: Terminator, Predator, Running Man.

Unfortunately, the list of Arnie films also includes films that disappointed me. Commando, Raw Deal, Red Heat - there was a time when seeing Arnie's name in a movie guaranteed I'd see it, and those movies broke me of the habit.

As for Sylvestor Stallone, I really only liked him in the first Rambo. I never got into the Rocky films except Rocky Balboa (2006). Most of the Rambo films were over the top action film cliches for me. I wanted to like him in the 1980s and saw many of his films, but he disappointed me more than Arnie.

Predator, above all. Then Terminator, Running Man, and Conan the Barbarian, in that order.

Sorry, never enjoyed Stallone's 'acting'.

Sly made some horrible movies in the 80s. The 90s were a bit better with the Specialist, Stop or My Mom Will Shoot, Demolition Man, Cliffhanger, Assassins and Judge Dredd. Then much later with the Expendable movies, Bullet To The Head and Creed (his best film since the original Rocky, if not his best ever)

Takehiro 'Taco' Uchimiya, SHD-2H Shadow Hawk 'Taco', Crimson Oasis Trading Company

Strange. i liked the rambos, Rocky IV most of all, and over the top/Tango and cash.  Lock up, and cobra i could have done without though.

Stallone's at a disadvantage in this poll for me as well because I do like the first two Rocky movies but neither of those are on the poll and any of the others I liked are also outside the bounds of this poll.  Rocky 4 almost made it but I chose Commando instead for my campy/hokey movie but because I liked the first Rambo movie it got a vote.

Arnold does just have the better movies in the 80's for me as well.  Terminator, Predator, and the aforementioned Commando got my remaining votes.

Wow.  Surprised there's so much Sly hate..

I don't hate Sly and his movies. It's just that to me most Arnie's movies rank above Sly's best work. From Sly besides of First Blood I like first three Rocky movies and I also enjoy Cobra as what it is. Cheesy 80's action movie. Interesting enough by watching Lost in Adaption from The Dom I learned that First Blood is based on book but has differences compared to source material.

It's not Sly I that. I think he is a good action movie star. Just the 80s wasn't his decade for movies. But he has never been as huge a Arnold in terms of movie success.

Difficult to decide because the year cut off means that The Governator's classics such as Cactus Jack (aka The Villian) and Kindergarten Cop plus Sly classics such Judge Dredd and Demolition Man as are not included . . .

Oh well, so many corny one-liners to choose from.

If it bleeds, we can kill it...  Predator for the win.

Though I didn't like Sly in the 80s, I think he has gotten better with age, the really appreciated the last two Rambo and Rocky films as well as the Expendables franchise (because its what we always wanted in the 80s... "I want to see a movie with both Chuck Norris and Rambo!").

Though I think that both Terminator and Predator were epic.  The only Stalone movies that could be though of that way was First Blood and (Rocky).s

Of all the movies listed I think Predator was the best out of all of them.
Rocky 4 may of been Sly's best movie.

Both have made some great movies and real crappy movies. Sly with the lead in the crappy movie department.
