Who commanded Wolf's Dragoons after Maeve?
« on: 18 June 2017, 10:32:32 »
As the title says.. Who commanded Wolf's Dragoons after Maeve was killed in 3073? (And additional info on anybody who has commanded them since 3067 is appreciated) I am not a WD fan but have found myself doing some minor work about them on Sarna.

I feel like Brian...Cameron, was it?  The guy from Wolf Pack?  I feel like he ran things for a little while.  But I could be misremembering.
Has TacOps taught you nothing? Of course there are rules for those! :D

3085 it was Anton Blake with only one regiment.

I don't think there anyone formally listed until 3085.

This doesn't help for the period immediately after Maeve, but per ER3145 Siena Cameron was General of Wolf's Dragoons from at least 3113 until her retirement in 3137.

Wouldn't have been Brian Cameron - he would have died above Terra with Task Force Vengance.

The Wolves were shattered by that ill fated revenge attack and Wolf and Blake tells us they could only raise a few provisional companies under Meave on Arc Royal.
After her death they don't seem to do... anything for the rest of the Jihad.
As far as I can tell, they stay on the Falcon border while Stone leads the attack in the Wobbies

Thank you folks,  We now only have 30 odd years unaccounted for rather than 70 odd on Sarna.  O0

Didn't he lead Operation Vengence or whatever the attack on Mars was?

It's been a while, so I did some digging: in The Day After, Maeve is holding a flask with the Kell Hound insignia.  When Stacy raises an eyebrow, Stacy says

Quote from: The Day After, p.10
"Morgan Kell gave it to Brian when we arrived.  He gave it to me.  He's not much of a drinker."

Could be that she means some other Brian, but I doubt it.  If that is Brian Cameron being referenced, he made it to Arc Royal at least.

Wow... so we might be the same damn person! I literally just looked up the same reference and was in the process of posting when you beat me!

Hmm... interesting. So I looked him up on Sarna - which lists him as "presumed to be" on the Terran attack. But the Day After blows that out of the water.
So, you could probably presume he's in command - interesting that he didn't lead the counter attack.

I think you were right about the Dragoons though other than Stacy Church's Company the remains of the Dragoons were too shell shocked to continue

I guess they had just lost their leader, their home, all their support/production,  their dependents, their WarShips, three quarters of their troops - I guess I guess if you're going to break the morale of your enemy do it correctly

The Day After's timeline is off; it takes place in 3069 and has Maeve saying not a single Dragoons unit is out there, but Delta Regt was still hired out to the Combine and was only broken in the battle for Buckminster in late 3070.

The Sarna entry suggests to me that he was involved in planning the attack, just not in carrying it out.  That makes perfect sense to me, since Colonels Rand and Jamison took part in TF Vengeance, and I can't see either subordinating themselves to a staff officer.  Then again, he does seem to have taken charge after The Day, suggesting they may have done just that prior to leaving for Mars.  But the idea that he was running the rump Dragoons on Outreach until Maeve got home also rules out his participation, since she didn't return until after TF Vengeance was already underway.
