ISAW A-F levels in the chart do not match up with ATOW/TW tech levels.

Oh, i didn't realize we were talking about that.

Confusing when multiple tech systems use same labels...

You're telling me.

ISAW A-F levels in the chart do not match up with ATOW/TW tech levels.
How so? The Tech Ratings in the Technology Effects Chart are derived from the Technology Rating Table on p. 122 of the TechManual, which is again used in Interstellar Operations (Universal Technology Advancement Table pp. 35-63). So if you've got a BattleTech Rating of 2 (units can be built of Tech Rating C and below), that means you can can build any sort of support vehicle, but standard Combat Vehicles and all 'Mechs are out.

No, it's all good. It did originally use a different system. I think at one point it referred to the FM ratings, which wouldn't work because they're contextual to era and faction, and at another point used a brand new rating. It was on the "list of things that bothered me." :D
Anyways, tore it down and built it up, so that it syncs with the big 'ole bible in IO, which hearkens back to the table in TM.

So, can this TRO:Succession Wars be safely ignored by someone who has all the relevant TROs already? or are there kernels of new information that render it necessary to obtain as well?

I'll have more information soon, but I'd lean towards "ignore" if you're up to date with all the TROs, which is why I want to make sure when it's posted for sale we're very clear that it's (mainly) reprinted material. But it depends on what you'd feel would swing it towards necessary. There are maybe half a dozen pieces of art that haven't been in a TRO before (but perhaps published elsewhere), there are three new entries, but no new variants, and a new introduction.

Anything, intro, framing device or otherwise, set past 3145 is relevant to my interests. If it's new content that doesn't have anything to do with the future, I'm comfortable ignoring it. It's that introduction that sounds the most likely to be of potential interest, but could just as easily be completely outside the scope of my interests.

I'm just going to sit here and hope that ilClan comes soon and renders such things moot.

Speaking as someone who doesn't have really any of the more current products, I'm gladly looking forward to TRO:SW!
While I have the FASA 2750 & 3025 TROs, seeing material I don't have and having material I know & love collected in one volume is a cool thing. Especially if there is Classic artwork in the mix.

You'll want TRO 3039. It collects much of the TRO 3025, 3026, 2750 downgrades, and a slew of the things that were introduced around 3039, like Hatamoto-chis and Wolfhounds. The Classic artwork....is a little problem, but that's what they had to do to make it the Bible for introductory level play back then.

Keep in mind that not all the A-F ranking systems in BT favor the same ends, in this one F is best, but in others (I think Availability is one) A is best

Will be able to see all 22 of the new "classic" mechs artwork in this new TRO, or just what we have seen so far?
I may have a low amount of posts but I have a PHD in Battletech and mechs older then most people on this board!

Which ones will still be silhouetted-out/left out?  It'd be a bloody shame to release a TRO that willingly leaves out some of the most iconic original 'Mechs in the game.

Okay, I REALLY hope this TRO doesn't come out before there's art of those remaining units.  It seems like a waste of effort, knowing that (...or do we? honest question, Adrian) there will be Classics lineart for the remaining 'Mechs, not including them in the TRO just because it's not available NOW seems strange to me.  I know you can't talk about a lot of the business end, but as a hypothetical, will there ever be a product (perhaps a 3039 Revised?) that includes all the Classics lineart and stats when they're finished?

Sartris, you said the Pixie and the Archer were published, where at?  I don't recall seeing it.  Only lineart I've seen is the Locust, Wasp, Valkyrie, Ostscout, Griffin (2SW), Shadow Hawk, Wolverine, Thunderbolt (2SW), Warhammer, Marauder, and Battlemaster (2SW).  Are the PXH and ARC color paintings only, and if so where may I see such things?

Would it be too much to ask for sources for these, so that we could look them up?  It is not easy to keep track of them.  Thanks.

It's the cover of the eBook of Wolf Pack.  I had a quick flip through CM:Mercs and didn't see it in there, though I wouldn't be surprised if it was reused.

The Marauder is also front and center on the cover of Campaign Operations.

Anyone know if any other 3D printed classics were made beyond the Warhammer and Marauder(?)

Yeah, but not lineart like I mentioned.  We didn't have that for the Battlemaster either until 2SW, and lineart's what goes into TROs...
