Artillery- Ruining someone's day on the cheap
« on: 13 October 2017, 12:16:27 »
After skimming some equipment lists . . .

I think one of the cheaper ways to bring artillery in to BV limited games would be the Pollux ADA Heavy Tank (3/5) towing a ADA Gun Trailer (3/7), think cheaper Destrier, which gets your 30 shots (via 3t) with the Sniper and 30 A4 shots (via 6t) which can let you mix up the ammo load to provide sufficient options.  The BV for this is 1414 with some variation if you bring Homing/Copperhead & TAG.  For 4k, 5k or larger games its a tidy little damaging package that can follow your mechs forward.

Or for a bit larger, add 4 Snipers platoons as field guns with 3/8 skills, the BV total is 1982.  Which is not bad for getting 10 shots with their load out.

I think Thumper field artillery is the cheapest way to go.  And they have 20 shots per ton.  Moving them around operationally can be a pain, but Karnovs or Planetlifters should do the trick...

The Ballistic from H:LoT2 is your baby. Cheap as chips and armed with a Sniper

So the Centaur battle armor has too short a range for you?

I lik to take the turret off a Goblin and replace it with a Thumper. Imagined it ending up looking like a WWII Wespe.

Done.  I had the esteemed Matt Plog draw one up for me down in Non-Canon Units (my "Glenmora Planetary Militia") and Combat Vehicles (look for the "Hobgoblin")...

Lol, I used ‘Hobgoblin’ for my gauss rifle conversion.

Hobgoblin is what I actually used for an AC/20 version, but I figured out the Thumper shortly thereafter, and just tacked it into that thread instead of creating a new one.
