During the golden years of the clans, technology jumped by leaps and bounds, the first real inroads to better technologies were generally tested on older machines that could easily be modified.
One such machine was "discovered" after the "not named clan" incident, which was located in one of the "not named clans" factories, missing a leg, and engine, the rest was there, so Snow Raven scientists jumped on it.
Packing mostly Star League Era tech, aside from the obligatory Enhanced ER PPC, it was packing a more efficient version of CASE, that didnt cause the entire torso to be lost on an ammunition explosion. This was tied into a more weight efficient(and space efficient) form of ferro fibrous armour, Combined with a more efficient version of the humble double heat sink, it was a solid machine.
The icing on the cake so to speak, was the advanced targeting computer found in the right torso.
The Snow ravens were amazed at this and set about incorporating it into their builds. But first they had to complete the Clan upgrade of the Highlander.
When the leg and engine was installed, a trial of possesion was performed amongst 2 warriors who wanted to pilot it. It ended up going to one of them, and was used in several trials, each time the machine proving its worth due to its longevity and accuracy of its fire power.
In time the mechs parts became swapped out for clan spec ones, and then in turn the clan spec ones made way for more exotic clan weapon systems (as can be seen further below)
