Battlearmour Fluff - modular weapons?

Something like the clan Elemental, is the main gun modular? Is it easy to modify from one mission to the other? Or are suits built with Small Lasers and the like and modifying one is a major job (cocmparatively).

Some suits like the Elemental BA have a modular mount (either anti-mech or anti-infantry).
In the case of the elemental BA they can mount every weapon with a weight of max. 200 kg and a number of slots of max. 2.

The exchange should be quite easy (acc. to StratOps, p. 184: 30 minutes and a skill modifier of -2)

Yep, a lot of battlesuits, the elemental included, have modular weapon mounts.
Fluff wise, modular weapon mounts were inspired by omni-pod technology.  Basically a mounting hardpoint and standard connections for power and fire control.
You can easily swap the weapon in the modular mount out for another one; that's the whole point.

If it lists a modular weapon mount, you can swap at will, if it lists a weapon, it's fixed equipment.

it would be as simple as disengaging a couple of cam locks twist and pull the gun off, grab a new gun, push, twist and reengage cam locks.  power couplings and targeting feeds connect when the gun does.
