Exactly. This(and repeated experience on these forums) is why whenever anyone cites Sarna for any reason, I always assume they are flat-out wrong until proven correct.

Which may take some doing in this instance.  After running the math based on TRO3050U, everything looks fine to me.  Well, the engine nearly as heavy as a Phoenix Hawk doesn't, but that's a problem with my concept of reality, not the math.

Ok, Zahn is done.  Moonsword, do you want the Magi?

I'm thinking of something from 3145 mercs.  Doing one of those Dragoon style all around the Sphere.

Would anyone mind if I butt in to do one sometime? No big rush, but after enjoying reading through these recently I wouldn't mind doing one for old times' sake.  ^-^

(But not the Magi, because I'm pretty sure it would be a ridiculously negative article. Screw that thing.)

EDIT: Has there been an article done on the Carnivore? If so, I must have forgotten it, but if not I wouldn't mind taking a crack at that beast.

Yep, there's already a fine Carnivore article from Moonsword up.

Maybe something quirky and hyperspecialized like the Bardiche? That could be ... I think interesting might be the word.

I... have to be honest, I'd rather take something that I have a bit of experience with... or at least would LIKE to have experience with.  :-\

No big deal though, if there's not really room in the schedule I understand.

Trust me, I kid. I tried to write a TRO 3145 preview for the Bardiche. That was an exercise in staring at my keyboard.  ;D It's by no means an awful pile but verges on making the Ant Lion seem like a generalist.

All right, I know I'm senile... But I'm pretty sure no one has done the Destrier yet, despite many people singing it's praises.

Anyone thinking about it?

I think the best way to describe the Destrier is a Demolisher on steroids, those two Long Tom Cannons remind me an awful lot of the Demolishers two AC/20's, and the Ballista trailers are reminiscent of the Demolisher A4

I'm having fun comtemplating the nature of the CJF vehicles in 3145.  Nacon by Monday, but i'm tempted to go with the others at some point.

"Meet the new Teppo, same as the old Teppo"

O:-)

More seriously, I think you could get some conversation going with a comparison of the two.  The Destrier does show improvements in several areas although the trailer is going to get some snark.  Of course, I know you read the Teppo article so you're probably not expecting me to consider the Destrier the height of Davion vehicle engineering. :P

Maybe we should toss the Paladin and Kalki in for a brawl of the super-costly super-heavies.

Oh, come on, what trailer isn't going to get some snark.

Trailers are hard to do... trust me, I've done my share now.

Actually, my largest single objection to the Ballista doesn't have anything to do with the fact that it's a trailer.  As a pair, the Destrier and Ballista are more mature iterations of the type and I noticed that the Destrier in particular has some attempt to mitigate a few of the usual problems with super-heavies or units that are hauling trailers around.

Well I am of the tactical doctrine that you should have dropped your trailer well before you got into LOS of the enemy anyway. That was the intent for both the Teppo and the Destrier trailers. They were not designed to be on the main battlefield. Then again the Teppo itself wasn't either.

The Destrier IS the battlefield.

I like the doctrine but that actually doesn't fix the problem that the Ballista is putting one of your command and control nodes into a target the enemy is already going to be lobbing counter-battery fire at.  It's like giving the enemy artillery gunners a two-for-one coupon on your operational assets.

Then we get to the part where it's a trailer and can't evade the counter-battery fire. #P  I imagine that's what the hardened armor is for.

Well the Ballista CnC was more to allow it to talk to command and the Destrier. Any commander that decides to operate his regiment from the Ballista gets what is coming to him.

Then again, this is "Ramming Speed" FedSuns. Common sense may have died with Hanse Davion's Heart Attack.

To be fair using a Ballista is probably a better choice then what a lot of commanders use and it doesn't provide command abilities at the AS/QS/BF scale according to the MUL so the chances of it being used that way are reduced

Not a problem as far as I'm concerned.  I'm not especially planning to look over the Destrier at the moment, although lightning might strike.

By the way, that Magi thread? Exactly the way I was hoping it would turn out, thanks! Aside from the usual jerkitude about customizing instead of looking at the actual unit, there was real honest discussion about the weakness and strengths of the tanks in question. Thanks! O0

I'll try to have the Skadi by Friday.  Ideally i'd like to do the Partisan AAA by Monday, as I think there is a potential discussion to be had there.

Someone should take the Schildkrote.  It's too controversial not have someone address it.
