I've told the story before, but one more time can't hurt.
A couple of years ago, I picked up a Fire Moth from a game store, intending to use it for conversion into an 'H' variant (I already had the arms for it). To my dismay though, I was missing a part- the strange rear armor plate that sits over the Mech's back. Not a huge loss, but... can't hurt to contact Melissa and see if she can send me one.
Now, something to remember: These folks make the miniatures, but they don't play the game. Telling Melissa that I need the AC-10 from an Orion results in a blank stare- telling her I need miniature 20-XXX and explaining what the part looks like works better. (even better than that is to pull an image from CSO of the mini, then use MS Paint to put a circle over the part in the image so she can see what it is she's looking for).
Well... how to describe that part? I told her the miniature's ID number, then explained I needed a 'butt plate', for lack of a better description, and sent the image.
A couple of weeks later I got a nice letter from Melissa (who I've considered a good friend for a number of years anyway), along with two tiny baggies... one containing the sprue I needed, and the other containing the same sprue... slightly modified. There's the 'butt plate'... with a thong bikini drawn on it in marker. I still have that sprue in its bag pinned to my wall above my painting desk, and when I'm having a rough day I still glance up at it for a fast chuckle. (I'll have to grab a photo of it when I get home from work)
