A-pods
« on: 01 December 2017, 08:58:49 »
Hello everyone,
A while back I built a Dire Wolf S and I just realized that I forgot the A-pods.
Hence my questions; where do A pods go? How big are they? Are there any drawings of them on a mech or pictures on a mini?
Thanks in advance

Not sure there are actually A-pods for minis. As for how they look, IIRC there were renders and they were kind of flat square things. Not very exciting, not very big.

Sarna has a pic that depicts them as discs. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Anti-Personnel_Pod

Finding anything suitably small for miniatures is gonna be hard.

The resculpt Thor and Loki legs had mounts for A-pods. I know the Loki came with them, I forget if the Thor did. The bit itself was about 3/16"across and a little under 1/8" thick, going by shaky memory while looking at a ruler.

The other good depiction of an A-pod is from the artwork for the Sirocco, where they can be seen on the front legs. Little egg-shaped things, can't miss them.

The Thor has hard-mounted jump jets in the legs and thus no A-pods.

The mini's legs are still the same as the Loki, regardless of stats. It could be that only the Loki mini comes with A-pod bits. I wasn't sure, so I listed both just in case.

The 3060 Sirocco has some rather prominent pods on its forelegs, as does the Fire Scorpion.

The Omnimech Gallery also has art for A-pods, called AIP.

In just about all cases, the A-Pods are only visible in the rear view.

Thanks for the image!
It will be simpler to scratch build a hex and attach it to the lower legs than a big bulge.
