New web comic just starting. Avengelyne is full page, full colour web comic updated by weekdays (whatever that means). First place of events is New York in christmas eve (interesting timing >:D). So far so few pages that I have no idea what it's about. But if you are impatient, you can order it right now on paper O:-)
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights errant, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Does any of us like superhero comics anymore? I know two really good web comics of that genre.

Spinnerette is about young biological lab assistant who, after certain accident in the lab, has got total six arms and strength of spider. She gets idea to be superhero, but she has very hard time at that. And how is she supposed to keep her extra arms hidden when she's out of her mask and costume? Comic goes to detail about daily lives of superheroes (there are many), makes references to better known superheroes and other media, and makes some fun parody.
Quote
You're not Peter Parker, a bite from one of these isn't going to give you superpowers. It may, however, develop a nasty infection.

Grrl Power doesn't differ much from the one above. But there is at least one major difference to typical superheroes: superheroes of this comic don't hide behind mask nor do they live double-lives. Professional superheroes are just that: trained professionals with military style uniforms, national backing, and most likely, some serious training. Not that all people with superpowers would be like them or their enemies: one can own and serve at a comic book store for all anybody cares. Warning: features strong, uncensored language and cursing.
Quote
You see, I don't just play a super hero...
I... I guess there's really only one way to finish that sentence isn't there?
Yeah - I am one.

Grrl Power's weekly update means the story's been moving pretty slowly, but there seems to be plenty of substance available for the author.

Spinnerette, OTOH...  Really, I've been following it for a while but it really seems to be going too much for fan service and too little for depth of story and has been since it started.

anybody else reading Skin Horse? (first page HERE)

(and why do I get the feeling those characters would make a decent starting base for Battletech 'secret agency' type characters?)

The Lydian Option is comic about smuggler, who gets caught and is sent to asteroid prison. Lots of inmates, but only handful are human, and great majority of others are very much against them. All hell breaks loose when prison is attacked from outside and humans find themselves fighting for their lives. Good for them, not everyone are against them. Features strong language and uncensored cursing, censored here becouse of forum rules.

Now I have found web comic with MECHAS on it! My life at war is about mercenary... or maybe it is corporate security force. Some good action, and very much fun(ny) dialogue and MECHAS! Some strong language and uncensored cursing.

It's a total damn disgrace. Can't those dumb bitches at least dress professionally? This is a battlefield, not a themed whore house.

Mechas are generally called Limb, and they seem to be omni types.

Attached file is snippet from Moonless Age from Drowtales. So first I LOLed at that, then I thought: "This is better than Harry Potter!" This decides it: I'm hooked. And this is good: comics are downloadable!

The mods should merge that other thread I started last night into this one or just lock or delete it, whichever they'd prefer.

Spinnerette is back in action with chapter 10! There was over month's worth sidestory of chapter 9 (only part of it on-line) followed by guest art. But now we are FINALLY going to see what'll happen after SHOCKING cliffhanger of chapter 8! As one reader put it:
Quote
Screw the drama bomb. This is a love nuke.
I'm anxiously looking towards fallout...

Only few pages of chapters 5 and 9 are on-line. whole chapters can be ordered & downloaded on-line. I recommend them: even though they are spin-offs (for most part), I was rolling over the floor laughing my *** off when reading them. Some of the guest art (free on-line within the comic) are good too, and this is winner:

I think as a best friend, I am contractually obligated to mention that Tommy Brownell of "The Most Unread Blog on the Internet Ever" fame is publishing a webcomic mini-series of his Hellrazor line in order to push sales for the company he's with Equinox Comics.  Hellrazor: Vodoo is available over on The Duck.

Banzai Girl used to be a dead tree comic book, don't know if it still is.  Looks like they're putting it up online, which is something a few different comic book publishers have been doing lately.
